A good virus scanner

I use syagte personal firewall, also free :P and I still don't feel that safe browsing the web. I hear how all my friends are tons getting malware and viruses but they are just deleting them with their virus scanner. They all use ones like norton, that you have to pay for. What are some really good free virus scanners?

Please check this out:New Grisoft in the House!!!
This is the parent of AVG Anti-Virus, a utility many use including myself. You might also look at www.download.com for Ad-Aware and Spybot, two free programs that have kept me from having any problems so far. As for a firewall, I use Comodo free firewall which gives two way protection.

I am interested in other programs users here use. If you have a suggestion as to a better product than Ad-Aware or Spybot, I'm all ears!

The product I used was AVG anti-spyware 7.5. I have previously used Avast! but that showed up with nothing on the scans so AVG is clearly better.

Perhaps not better wally246, but certainly equal and just as important are Spywareblaster and Spywareguard. Also a good HOSTS file will help. See my sig below for links.
