Need help with "Message Service Center"

I reinstalled my NORTON INTERNET SECURITY with product key and I don't know if I should take messages service center boxes that keep popping up. I have several that keep appearing but, only listed a couple of messages along with 4 different sites that I have been told I need to go to.

I have not done so. What do I do? Are these valid or just poison?

MESSAGE SERVICE CENTER
message from FROM to TO on 11/05/06
Windows has found 55 critical system errors
Registry Update
Registry Update
~~~~~~~
Message from SECURITY to ALERT on
Message from SECURITY_MONITOR to USER on 11/01/06
There maybe a CRITICAL REGISTRY ERROR
Type in Registry Doc
~~~~~~~~
Message from SYSTEM to ALERT ON 11/05/06
Registry Cleaner Recommended
Registry Update

I also need info on how to retrieve or reinstall applications..."AGMDim.dll" and "Pictrls.dll"...possibly others if I get past these two.

Can anyone help me with these dilemmas? I hope I have provided necessary information or at least enough!

Thanks in advance!

If advertisements are opening on your computer in a window titled Messenger Service, it may indicate that your system is not secure. You should enable the Internet Connection Firewall and disable the Messenger Service in Windows XP to help protect your computer from unwanted spam and other potential threats.

The Messenger Service was originally designed for use by system administrators to notify Windows users about their networks. However, some advertisers have started using this service to send information via the Internet, and these messages could be used maliciously to distribute a virus.

Note:

Although the name of the service is similar, Messenger Service in Windows XP is not related to instant messaging programs such as Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger. Disabling instant messaging programs is not necessary and not recommended. Disabling instant messaging programs will not prevent Messenger Service spam on your computer.

If your computer is part of a corporate network, ask the network administrator before disabling Messenger Service.

If you have Windows XP at home or in a small office that you manage yourself, you should disable the Messenger Service.
  • Go to Start>Run and copy/paste or type services.msc
  • Scroll down until you see Messenger.
  • In the Startup type list, choose Disabled
  • Click Stop, and then click OK.

Let me know how that goes....

Thanks for your help...I did as you instructed and it seems to be fine so far...although I do want to be sure that "Message Service Center" and "Messenger Service" are one in the same. Just to be sure.

There were 2 more needed solutions I was hoping to receive from you wonderful and knowledgeable Tech Support Heroes!

I need info on where to find and reinstall applications..."AGMDim.dll" and "Pictrls.dll"...possibly others if I get past these two.

Might you be able to assist with these as well?

I do appreciate your time!

Hope

If the popups have now stopped, yes. The service is what controls the Service Center.

For your other issues, you'll be better served asking in the appropriate OS forum - Windows XP, for example, if you use Windows XP.

I'll take one stab at it.

If you're receiving error messages about those dll files and others, you have some corruption going on. You may need to reinstall the applications associated with these files.

AGMDim.dll is related to Adobe photoshop

pictrls.dll is an MS file....you can get it from 3rd party repositories like this one:

http://www.webzila.com/?wz=dll#results

But you may just be better off reinstalling the Microsoft Picture It! application
