Virus combining two folder names to disguise itself?
Hello,
We have had this "yahroxio" folder in our program files for quite some time. It only contains one subfolder called "cached" and then a load of files within it. We looked at the size of the folder and it kept going up and up and didn't actually get to a final size (we stopped looking at 200mb). This folder is what always makes virus scans on our pc take atleast a couple of hours. They always take over an hour reading just this folder. I am wondering if this folder is some sort of virus. Seeing as we have two folders in the same directory, one called "YAHoo" and the other called "ROXIO". Yahroxio sounds like it is just a merge of two of those names to maybe disguise itself in the pc. I just wanted to see what others think about this, because it has been on our pc for over a year I am sure, and it is always slowing down our scans. Also if you search for the name yahroxio on google, you get absolutely no search results, except for one forum topic that I posted a while back when I mentioned it to someone else! Thanks for your input :) -Mary |

Hi,
I have seen the thread you had here: Security Forums :: View topic - HijackThis Log - Maryb86 Seems to be related to the Apropos Rootkit. Please follow MicroBell's 5 Step process outlined here After running through all the steps, best thing to do is have one of the HijackThis helpers take a look at a log. Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Double-click on the file you just downloaded. Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIJACKTHIS\ Double click on HijackThis.exe to run the program. 1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. 2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. 3. Post the hijackthis.log file in the HijackThis Log Help forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Hello dorts,
I am actually already in a topic with a hijack this log in the main forum area used for that in this forum. They are helping me with a torpig virus, though I think it's gone now... Should I wait until I finish conversing with the other person before I post you my hijack this log or would you rather me just post it? They haven't been replying much. I have already followed all of the steps on that link. |

Actually, here's the hijack this log, the trojan must be gone none of the virus software that was picking it up before is now picking it up and the pc seems to be working fine. Could you or someone else take a look at the log and look into the yahroxio file?:
