Should I keep Norton?

Hi, I've just recieved a new laptop which has Norton Internet Security 2007 pre-installed on it. I know that on quite a few sites Norton has come under a lot of fire and I myself have stayed as far away from it as possible. However, I've heard that it can be a bit of pain to remove and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile removing it.

aslong as it doesnt make any trouble keep it. as soon as it gets annoying just remove it.

i personally dislike norton and would go with a free solution like AVG antivirus and Kerio or Zone Alarm Firewalls

Everyone has their own opinion. Personally, I have used it for years and it has served me quite well, yes, it is a resource hog. Some people prefer other programs.

You can read through this well written article for more info:

The New NIS 2007 and other Symantec 2007 products are VERY GOOD. They reduced system lag and give much better protection. I WOULD KEEP IT.

If it's a trial I don't recommend keeping it. I recommend Kasperski, or NOD32 for paid, and AntiVir or AVG for free. Need a firewall I like Kerio or Comodo. If oyu need a all-in-one suite I like KIS (very good).

NIS 2007 is way better than the previous versions. It has a very good firewall which does not ask for your confirmation, it automatically blocks malware and permits good programs; it does not give false positives either because it scans any unknow programs. Also its antivirus and antispyware are good as well.
I would go with Nortan Internet Security 2007!

I just noticed something the Norton that is installed on my laptop says 2006, but the actual disk says 2007 on it. I didn't install the software myself, it was already on.

I've found Norton is a pretty decent product. It's a bit of a hog but has worked well for me. Plus I've heard it can be really difficult to completly uninstall.
If it's not broke, don't fix it. :3-laugh1:
