Should I ditch Nortons?

Been reading up on all the suggestions for firewalls and virus protection. I downloaded Windows defender for my spyware (does it also detect adware and is this all i need for spyware/adware and everything else ware?) anyway, I currently have Nortons internet security, but have read that AVG and/or zone alarm is better, doesn't cost anything and has less problems with conflicts. Just wondering what everyone thinks.

Thanks
Phil

personally i ditched norton in 2001. in 2002 i didnt use any virus protection and after that i used AVG. AVG as you said is free and works like a charm definatly better then norton and doesnt lock your system up. For a firewall id recommend Kerio or Zone Alarm. Currently im running Kerio on my server and WinXP firewall on my gaming rig.

For adaware i use lavasoft adaware and spybot for spyware and some further scanning.

in my opinion ditch norton get AVG+Kerio/Zonealarm/WinFirewall+Adaware+Spybot and u are set

Wait for your Norton license to expire before changing. Unless it is causing you problems.

I currently use Norton, but once it's up I plan to switch off. Thou Norton has always been good to me - I just hear good things about other companies.

And I use Windows Defender and swear by it. I used to use Ad-aware, but Defender picks up tons more crap.

If it is Nortan 2007 KEEP IT. If it is an earlier version, consider upgrading to the 2007 version. It is VERY GOOD. The 2007 version reduced system lag and offers better protection.

No I do not work for Symantec. I dont work for any computer company.
I just really like the 2007 version of Norton. If I worked for Symantec or any computer company I would sail through the TSF academy.

OK, OK I was just pulling your leg. If you like Norton then good luck to you. I've never used it so I don't comment on how it works or whether it's good or bad. I leave that to others.

I dont like the older versions of Norton. I think Symantec did a good job with the 2007 version.
