new AV

my parents are wanting to update Norton. i advised against it, as that computer is running really slowly and i feel that norton may be the cause of some of it. what are the best paid AVs? i looked at sticky, but parents want the complete best pretty much. price isnt too much of an issue. thanks

I would recommend KIS as a suite (Kasperski). I myself use paid AvtiVir and free Comodo firewall. I used free AntiVir free for years before but it's so good I decided to support the program. Alternatively NOD32 is great as a standalone paid A/V and Outpost Pro is a very good paid firewall.

Hi forcifer,

I would agree with bat21. NOD32 is what I am using now and its great! But its a bit more advance. Read the following article by Glaswegian if you have not do so. It has some AV listings which you may wanna try.

AVG Internet Security is a very nice security suite. At $70 for 2 years, it's a pretty good deal, too. Worth checking out anyway.

The NEW Norton AntiVirus 2007 and Norton Internet Security 2007 are VERY GOOD. They cut back on the system lag and offer good protection.

Also, NOD32 and Kaspersky AV or IS are good.

A few of the Security guys use NOD32. If I had any money I reckon I would go for that one.

I think POADB and sUBs use NOD32 and it's light on resources, so if it's good enough for them......

Norton 2007 is up to par. It cuts down on system lag and adds better protection than the 2006 version. Also NOD32 is good.
