Question about Windows installer

Would disabling Windows Installer prevent viruses and Trojans from installing themselves on a computer? I was just wondering and thought I'd ask, its a pretty simple thing to do and might prevent viruses an the likes from installing themselves in the first place, a person could just enable it when needing to install something, like updates or programs. I'm using Windows XP Pro.

Thought I'd run that buy you Tech guys or gales

Nope.

Most malware/virus do not use windows installer and have their own incorporated into the bad guys.
