AVG is the best free anti-virus protection.
I use Norton anti-virus on my laptop, yeah, I know, it is crap, but it came free with the laptop, so I just used it...

I use AVG because it is free. If I were to pay for an AV it would probably be NOD32.

I use eTrust EZ Antivirus because it was offered free from Microsoft for users of validated Windows back in March. When the gratis 12-month period ends, I'll probably turn to AVG. One important note: I deem the installed antivirus program to be only one-half of the recommended antivirus protection (but still it needs to be a very decent program, correctly configured and constantly being updated). The other half (equally indispensable) is to perform every ten days all online antivirus scans found at Microbell's 5-step process. Only this way can a user rest assured that his local AV protection has not been compromised by malware.
