Poko Follow-Up Message to Computer "Fix."
I’m sorry, but I have a few more follow-up questions for you about my computer security system.
Presently I'm Having the Following Problems:
When Opening Microsoft Office Word Yesterday It Said: ! “The file Auto Recovery save of Document 1 is not available.” “You may be encountering this message because an anti-virus program is not allowing the file to open. This can be caused by one of two conditions. Either the anti-virus program needs to be updated (due to a compatibility problem with its application) or there is a virus in the file but the anti-virus program cannot properly remove or process the virus it has found. In either case, the file you are attempting to open should be treated as infected until you have updated your anti-virus software to the latest updates available from the vendor. All major anti-virus software manufacturers have created updates to address known compatibility problems with Office applications. They also usually provide a virus signature file that is available for download from the Internet and must be updated regularly to properly scan for all known viruses. If you are experiencing this problem on a computer where a new version of anti-virus software was recently installed from a CD-Rom, it is advised to connect to the Internet and download the latest updates available from the vendor. If you are experiencing this problem on a computer where the latest version of the software is installed, all signature files are up to date and the file will not open (but other files do), then it is very likely the file is infected with a virus and the anti-virus program cannot remove the infection. There is also the possibility the file is corrupt (damaged) and cannot be properly handled by either the anti-virus software or the affected Office application. In this case, it may be necessary to attempt recovery of the file using the related recovery utilities that may be available with the application (not all applications have file recovery or repair capabilities). For more information about this issue, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 835404.” My Action: I ran a “Panda ActiveScan” and it said I had one piece of spyware. Since I don’t have a full-featured version of this software, I went online, purchased and started to download the program when I noticed an earlier screen that said it wouldn’t install the program unless all other anti-spyware programs were uninstalled first. Note: I stopped the download and did not uninstall anything. I have recently updated and ran the following spyware programs on my desktop: SpywareGuard Ewido Anti-Spyware Norton Intenet Security Suite Panda ActiveScan (Free Version) SpySweeper SpyBlaster Spybot Search & Destroy Ad-Aware SE Personal (Free Version) Windows Defender (Beta 2) CleanUp! iespyad Folder(?)...didn't run this. Panda was the only one that said I have one piece of spyware on my system and I would tend to believe them because my computer has just started to act a little strangely today. I want to nip this in the bud. Please advise. Also, when trying to run Spy Guard to see if I could do anything to remove this spyware, it said, “Which user account do you want to use to run this program” Current User The Following User User Name: Administrator Password: ___________ My Action: I selected “Current User.” However, when I clicked the “OK” button, Spy Guard says, “Invalid Picture.” What does this mean? I recently changed my WINDOWS password. Could this be why I can't get Spy Guard to run its program or do I need to do anything with this program at all...ever? Please advise. Other than these concerns, my computer has never worked better since doing the “Fix.”! Thanking you in advance, Poko |
