Mcafee 2006

Hello everyone. I recently installed Mcafee 2006 antivirus scanner. Some times on reboot when it loads the red icon next to the clock is black instead of red, indicating that the protection is turned off. It also slows boot time quite a bit to the point of being a pain in the rear. When it works its ok. I have zone alarm security suite. It has the CA antivirus. How good is the antivirus protection in ZA 5.5 compared to Mcafee 2006?? I bought the Mcafee because I thought it was better than the virus protection in the ZA.

McAfee VirusScan 2006 is better than ZoneAlarms CA AntiVirus. However, as a whole, ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6.5 is better than McAfee. I would recommend you keep ZA.

You should also be aware that having two A/Vs on your system can cause conflicts and slow it down.

I would suggest uninstalling one, but since I don't use either one, I can't make any recomendations.

McAfee

Hi All,
You can't run 2 AVs at the same time, uninstall 1 asap.
I won't go into the pros and cons of various AVs because you only end up totally confused. What I will say is that I have used McAfee AV and Personal Firewall Plus along with a variety of Anti Spyware progs on 2 systems for many years now. I have never had a virus so either I am extremely lucky or McAfee AV is doing a good job.

I would go with either Kaspersky AV 6 or Norton AV 2006
