Vista beta prepares to self destruct

Microsoft has underlined previous warnings that early versions of Windows Vista will be crippled from this Friday, June 1st.

In pop-up messages, Microsoft has told users to: "Back up important data from Windows now. The Windows license will expire in X days. Back up your files, and then install any edition of Windows Vista."

W8 like retail versions or the beta.

It's the earlier RC versions - they need to be upgraded to a legal copy by Friday.

Hmm, I wonder how that happens, I guess it send information off to M$ without you knowing. What If you dont use your computer inside the X days.

Points and laughs at all the Vista users. Why deal with MS's shenanigans, when all you have to do is wait a year or two for all the bugs/problems to get sorted out?

Carsey, don't be paranoid - any software running on a computer knows what day it is without having to contact Microsoft. And all these terms and conditions were very well known beforehand, when the users initially accepted the beta software EULA and installed it on their computers.
