GREEN BAY, Wis. — It took only three picks for National Football League general managers to question whether they knew anything about how the first round was going to play out, and two more picks after that to realize they probably didn’t.

When new Kansas City boss Scott Pioli, part of the brain trust that built the New England Patriots [team stats]’ dynasty, selected Louisiana State defensive end Tyson Jackson with the third pick and the New York Jets [team stats] traded up to the fifth to take Southern California quarterback Mark Sanchez, all bets were off.

Sanchez seems like a good fit for New York.
