A-Rod

Opinions on his juice use??

Good for him to admit it, but someone should come out and ask why he had to wait to get confronted to admit it.

Re: A-Rod

I am not that informed on this situation or what he was taking exactly, but that is one of the biggest reasons why I hate baseball. Not that people use performance enhancers, but anytime a baseball player uses a supplement and he gets too good because of it the supplement gets banned and then made illegal. There have been several perfomance enhancing supplements that body builders and other athletes have used for years that have been fine and legal until a baseball player takes it and hits too many homeruns and all of a sudden its bad.

Re: A-Rod

I am wondering how the results of an anonymous test becames public . . some one in the testing facility deserves to be fired.

That will be the last anonymous test in sports for sure!

Re: A-Rod

My take on this one:

Keeping the test anonymous was not a wise idea in the first place, except it has now became out in the open although not intended that way. If it had been dealt with at that time, it might have prevented further abuse by others and this individual.

When we have been doing random testing of kids in high school sports for drug usage for several years now and provide them help (they do get a suspension, but help for their problem), why did it take so long for this to come out. Drug use is drug use, so it should have instigated an immediate suspension and assistance to rid the individual of substance abuse.

Fool me once, we help, fool me twice, you are out of the game forever and headed to the pokey. Since it was decided to leave this anonymous, there was no incentive to stop using.

The game itself including the commissioner, league management, owners, managers, players, the players union, and others involved are much to blame for not aggressively dealing with this issue. They have overlooked the issue too long to protect their turf.

That is my opinion.

Re: A-Rod

IN this case, unlike other levels of sports, the union had to agree with the testing . . it had to be anonymous or the union would not agree . . so much for that agreement!

Re: A-Rod

Yep, another case of where a union (with that rule they have to agree) does NOT do what is in the best interest of the ones they represent. Those players should have been disciplined and HELPED by receiving mandatory treatment if they wanted to stay in the game.

Re: A-Rod

I is amazing to me that the union had that much power . . I guess at the time, it did not seem like such a big deal to MLB . . the ol' 'ead in the sand syndrome

Re: A-Rod

Sorry to bring up an old post, but i have to give an opinion on this. (=

You see, the public shouldn't really be all over a-rod how they have been, because he did infact take whatever he took, but it wasn't outlawed in baseball when he took it or them. Personally i've played baseball all my life about 14 years now, and i do play at the collegiate level, and let me tell you taking steroids or HGH doesn't make you an all star baseball player. You still have to be able to play the game, its a talent either you're born with it or you're not and it takes years of dedication to get that good. Just like with barry bonds, even if, thats right IF he took steroids, so what. You know how hard it is to hit a 90mph fastball or an 85 mph curveball? Pretty damn difficult. Just a thought though. Let them take what they want, it's a new era.
