crappiest sports

Do you guys agree with this article?

Golf and Soccer aren't bad. I really haven't tried any of the other ones. Pole Vault and Shot Putt aren't really sports, there more of events I think, and Race Walking is just like walking around a mall, its definately not a sport.

I find it kinda ironic that NASCAR is in there. I always hated NASCAR ever since they started using front wheel drive cars as a template for their so called "Stock" cars. I remember the days when they actually drove "Stock" cars. Now you can't even tell the cars apart. Ford looks like Chevy and Chevy looks like Ford. Like Jim Rome says, "Neck Car".

I like the fact that all the cars are the same. That way you find out who is the best driver as opposed to who has the biggest engine.

And I don't think golf is as much of a sport as a skill.

At work so I can't read the article but first we need to define a sport. Here's mine:

To be considered a sport the winner must be decided by the participants. If it has to be judged it’s an exhibition not a sport. Synchronized swimming is not a sport. Neither are gymnastics or snow boarding. Boxing is in the grey area only because of how its run currently.

To be considered a sport the outcome has to have a human element. Dog racing is not a sport. NASCAR is borderline.

That's what IROC races are for.
That why I would rather watch Formula 1 or Rally. Different manufacturers different drivers.

But staying on topic. I had a friend that would listen to Golf or Tennis on the radio. Figure that out.

Off topic again: A while back there was a series for motorcycle racing. Here is it's entire rule book:

The motorcycle will have two wheels.

Other than that, whatever got them around the track quickest was fine. That's why I liked the CAN-AM series from the 60's and 70's. Real innovation going on there.

Now, back to our regulaly scheduled broadcast.

Why is it that just because these blokes don't like a particular sport it is Crap.
Who died and made them the supreme judge on what is good in sport and what isn't.

Oh for goodness sakes, if a person likes a sport, then they can play that sport, if someone doesn't like that sport, then just stay away from it! If it is fun for some people, then it is a good sport!

Good point Brian. I counter with Who detremines a sport is a sport? The fans do. If people are willing to pay good hard earned money watching people run, jump, throw, drive, kick, wrestle, or eat fast, then go ahead. As long as there is a market for something, people will watch it.

Also, sports tend to be regional. Our aussie friends and horse would think that baseball is lame comapred to cricket and that ice hockey is just soccer on skates. Heck, our local news guy found a rock, paper, scissors tournament.
