Rematch?

Ohio State and Michigan remain 1 - 2 in the BCS poll that determines which teams play for the National Championship. If the season ended this weekend should these two play again?

My view is No. Michigan had its chance to beat OS and didn't. And, if they did play and Michigan won, which is the better team?

All that said, if #3 USC beats #5 Notre Dame and UCLA or if #4 Florida beats #6 Ark, should either of these teams play on Jan 8th? Which?

If ND beats USC I think it will be tough not to put the Irish in the championship game.

(I hate the BCS but it sure keeps us talking.)

Oh, and as exciting as the game was on Saturday, I don't think either team can be called Great. There are two sides of the ball and neither defense was worth a lick. To be truly great, a team has to excell in all phases of the game.

I want to see a rematch. Michigan lost by three points on Ohio St field. The two best teams should play each other and as of right now that would be Ohio st and Michigan, then very closely behind is USC.
The other reason Michigan should play Ohio St is to allow Wisconsin to play a BCS bowl game. Wisconsin is the team that will be shafted in the end because three teams from any one conference can't be represented in three BCS games.
Once USC beats Notre Dame that'll put them in the #2 spot, Michigan will be #3 and heading to the Rose Bowl and Wisconsin will be stuck in the Capital One Bowl

or if #4 Florida beats #6 Ark, should either of these teams play on Jan 8th? Which?

Neither should play. It should be Ohio St vs Michigan/USC.

No rematch. 17 Michigan pts off of 3 OSU turnovers. 1 OSU def 3rd down penalty that negates an OSU 3rd down penlty. Look at the stats. Smith was awesome. Pittman was awesome. Hart was awesome. Henne, not so much. 29 yrds rushing per game oblierated by a freshman with fumbleitis? Nah, I am thinking USC. A conference road loss is understandable for both the Trojans and Woleverines.

Of course, all of this is moot as Troy Smith will pick up his trophy on Dec. 9th, and kiss it goodbye after Christmas and go back to the desert where Ohio State has won 3 of the last 4 years.

O-H-I-O

I'd like to see Ohio State play either USC or Florida (assuming they can win the rest of their games). I think it would be ridiculous for Michigan and Ohio to play again in the championship...If Michigan turns around and beast Ohio in the championship, who is the real champion?

Michigan fans, you had your chance, you blew it...its someone else's turn to take on Ohio State...and lose.

Hi,

I have to agree with elf on this one. Michigan had it's chance and they lost. Notre Dame got beat up on real bad by Michigan, so that makes no sense to me for them to even be up there so high. A championship game with Florida is what I would like to see. That would be awesome.

#2 is a moot point anyway.

Hi,

I want a Florida and Ohio match, Michigan had their chance and was not up to the job. (oh, I am little biased, lived within twenty minutes of the U of F campus for four years and spent some time at the school there. Funny, but also have some of my post graduate credit from Florida State University. I can tell you this, those people live and breath football and they HATE each other)

Being that USC got knocked out the choice should be very clear. Does anybody really think that Florida is better than Michigan? I think Michigan and USC are the only teams that could possibly beat Ohio St. It should be the two best teams in the nation, not who had there chance.

If Florida ends up going to the National Championship Game, the Rose Bowl is going to end up with the best game... USC vs Michigan

BTW I have been quite irritated with the BCS rules for the past couple weeks. Why is it that only two teams from the same conference can go to the BSC bowls? This rule seems completely lame. I sure wish they would implement a playoff system and get rid off there current flawed system.
O.K. that's my rant. I had to get that off my chest.

. Going into this weekend, Michigan played the nation's third-toughest schedule behind Cincinnati and one other team which is FLORIDA.

Case for Florida

Schedule, schedule, schedule. Going into the final weekend of the season, the Gators played the nation's toughest schedule, and it wasn't even close. The cumulative opposition winning percentage was 0.643. Number two Cincinnati was 0.622. That might not seem like much, but it is.

The SEC deserves a break. Auburn got hosed in 2003 when USC and Oklahoma squared off for the national title. If you believe the SEC is the nation's toughest conference, then its champion should go in.

Michigan didn't win it's own conference title. If you're the number two in your league, how is it possible, theoretically or practically, that you should be named the best team in the country?

Michigan beat an overrated Notre Dame team that had one win over a team with a pulse (Georgia Tech) and got by Wisconsin before the Badgers offense, primarily the receivers, began to jell. Ohio State and Michigan basically fattened up their records against a horrible Big Ten while Florida ended up beating nine bowl teams and lost to one.

Hey, we agree on this one anyhow. The BCS system simply stinks and ranks as the "good ole buddy" system. That is simply why Michigan should only get another chance "if" a playoff system would show that they are actually the most worthy of meeting Ohio State. Think how great a Michagan and Florida game would be in a playoff scenario. That would be the real test of a champion to have to wade through the "best of the best."

The mighty Buckeye machine will continue to roll as it has all year. Florida will get exposed. Big players and big coaches step up in big ganes and none are better than Smith/Tressel. Playing in Arizona is tantamount to a home game for OSU and we'll make it 4 out of 5 in the desert.

Did you know that Ohio State has more BCS victories than any other school?
