England reborn....beware the rest of the World!!! :-)

Steve McClaren has shown some balls for his selection of the team for the friendly against Greece next week:

Goalkeepers:
Robinson (Tottenham), Kirkland (Liverpool), Foster (Man Utd).

Defenders:
Bridge (Chelsea), Brown (Man Utd), Carragher (Liverpool), A Cole (Arsenal), Dawson (Tottenham), Ferdinand (Man Utd), G Neville (Man Utd), P Neville (Everton), Terry (capt, Chelsea), Young (Charlton).

Midfielders:
Downing (Middlesbrough), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Jenas (Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Lennon (Tottenham), Richardson (Man Utd), Wright-Phillips (Chelsea).

Strikers:
Ashton (West Ham), Bent (Charlton), Crouch (Liverpool), Defoe (Tottenham).

No Beckham, Sol Campbell and David James and a few other missing through injury/suspension.

Must admit that I was weary of McClaren becoming boss as he was Sven's lapdog for so long but this selection show's he's not scared to pick the players who need to be picked and drop the dead wood......however, I do still think that Beckham has a few England games under his belt yet but now he know's it's not all about reputation.

England are back!!!....(I hope) :-)

Well, nickster, this is the only way to go when one coaches a team full of divas - you show them that what counts is those ninety minutes in the field, not the reputation, media coverage and ad contracts.

Now, I didn't know you're playing against us next week (I'm not into football a lot); but I'm afraid our present team will be a snack bite...

The United States still need a coach. I still want to hire Klinsmann.

It´s good to see England got rid of her old coach. Most-expensive trainer ever (right, or?) with only marginal success. I hope we will see the full potential of the English team now. After all .... it´s your game.

@bry623:

Why not? He already lives over there, he uses American training methods AND he speaks a better English than Matthäus (well ... who doesn´t? )

Passt wie die Faust aufs Auge.

Well, England-Greece: 4-0... What had I said? If only I had bet on what I said...

In American betting, you would have been given points.

Was a good result and we were pretty good in the first half but took our feet off the gas in the second....4-0 half time, so I was kinda hoping for a 7-0 thrashing but a win's a win!

Was pretty good considering we didn't have Rooney, Owen or Joe Cole on the pitch....not to mention Beckham and the manager has definitely injected some willingness into the team.

Glad that my original doubts of Steve McClaren have been proven false..now we need to build on this and get better and more consistent for the 90 mins.

Zazula....I believe we had a £500 bet on the game????????? :)
