Stock Market

The Stock Market, long a leading indicator of the U.S. economy is less than 200 points from its ALL TIME HIGH.

I guess that tax cuts and supply side economics don't hurt the economy as much as liberals would like us to believe.

Predicted response?: Blah,blah,blah........ tax cuts are for the rich
blah blah blah........ Oil Prices
blah blah blah blah........ Haliburton

Yeah but few new jobs are being created and the dollar has slipped to a new low, http://www.tradingmarkets.com/tm.sit...20NEWS/246480/ , and the Canadians are at 91c to us, that's not a good thing.

But I'd have to agree that corporations are making more money, thank God for that. I was worried Warren Buffet wouldn't be able to afford his gilded toilet paper if he had to keep paying taxes.

That sounds just pessimistic enough to get you invited to Howard Dean's house.

Haven't heard from old Deany in a while, I guess wimps up on the hill didn't want him rocking the boat. The wimps were right though, Bush is doing a good enough job of shooting him self in the foot. All the dems have to do is keep quiet to let the rest of the republicans ponder how much of a screw up Bush really is.

I guarantee the next republican nominee will have better syntax skills.

And I guarantee the next democratic nominee will not have the personality of a rock.

They keep saying Hilary and I keep begging for better options. Hilary is one of those aristocratic Dixiecrats and I'm on the fence with those types. But that's a while away, until then I'll be voting for the first time in Cali's Governor race.

Joe Biden. If I had to vote for who I wanted the democratic nominee to be today, the vote would be for Joe Biden.

My System

Blah...blah...blah...

Actually, if economic philoshphy was the only criteria I might actually be persaded to vote for a Republican. But it's not.

The stock market reflects how the gamblers on Wall Street think not how the machinist on Main Street thinks. There may be a tie between the DJIA and how well the average person is getting by but it's an obscure one. The fact that my mutual funds are doing well doesn't help the family who doesn't earn enouigh to pay their bills let alone invest.

I've said this before: Conservatives measure the success of a society by how well the top echelon is doing. Liberals measure it but how well the bottom rung is fairing. And in this economy the lowest 1/5th of wage earners has not benefitted - in fact they have lost ground in terms of real income.

Oh and don't forget: War is good for the economy. I'm against war.
