House to vote on anti-gouging bill

Now they just need to, y'know, investigate.

Clicky.

Oh boy. The cowards in Congress tell the bureaucracy to develop a definition of gouging. But think about how these are finally established; working groups which include industry representatives, public hearings that may or may not actually be open to the public, 90 day review period, mandated analysis of the economic impact of the proposed rule, etc. All together it’s not at all likely to arrive at anything meaningful. And even if, by some miracle, it did the Bush administration would gut it before it became law.

The Republicans run the country based on the principle that “You CAN fool all of the people all of the time.”

And as for investigations; don't hold your breath. The oil & gas industry has already donated over $7 million to congress this year (75% to Republicans btw) all members are tainted. Ain't gonna happen. Corrupt bastards - every one.

I agree. It is a futile attempt to save their jobs. A price freeze would be more meaningful.

My first car will be a diesel, so when the oil pumps start belching out nothing but oil-moistened sand, I can still zip on over to Wendy's and fill up on some filtered Waste Vegetable Oil and distill a gallon or two into biodiesel to flush out the system upon starting and stopping.

for real? It couldn't cost more than 4 dollars or so per mowing, and that's if you have a yard like mine.

in these times of drastically increasing prices, the ol' % of profit margin needs to be thrown out...obviously as prices go up, the $ amount of profit goes up if the % route is used. I think a price freeze would have a bad effect...

just the ramblings of a person who has a 4 year degree in Economics.
