Re: Democrat Or Republican?

In that I have been both at one time or another in my life and found both Democrats and Republicans to be less than expected, I prefer to walk my own path now. Both seem to to get hung up on either retainng power or regaining power as their first goal with the interests of this country running a distant second. Now that the Dems are back, we will see where they head. They would be wise to not follow their predecessor's example set in place over the last 28 years culminating in about the worst 8 year run of administrations I have seen in my lifetime.

On most things I am a centrist. Never seem to wander to far from there. From the fence you can see in every direction.

I was a Republican't until I "grew up". The 1st year of Georgie's reign showed me the error of my ways. Obama got my vote.............

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

Polosi is not the leader of the dems and Limbaugh is not the leader of the GOP. I know, they both say they aren't the leaders of their two parties, yet Limbaugh constantly tells GOPs not to act like dems (how would he know how a GOP should act?) , and Polosi constantly tells us there are no terrorists in Iraq (i'm glad we didn't use the same philosophy in WW2 because we wouldn't have fought Nazi Germany. They didn't attact Pearl Harbor, ya know.) Too many radicals in both political parties screwing it up for everyone else. This is how the Civil War must have happened.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

I cannot believe anyone could at this time say they were proud to be affiliated with either party. I think you can find more common sense in a second grade class than totally in Washington.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

Democrats are predominated by polarizing progressive ideology and Republicans are predominated by polarizing conservative ideology.
Both ideologies believe most issues are too important to compromise, so neither party compromises.
Our founding fathers based the United States on compromise. This is why there are three houses of government, why there are checks and balances in government, and why each citizen has one popular vote. Our country was meant to evolve. No evolvement going on right now.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

I am and have been a Republican since I became of age to vote. (parents were Democrat) - but I have always voted for the candidate I felt was the right one - no matter what party.
What bothers me is the liberal democratic owners/reports/news who praise the democrats no matter what they do or don't do yet a republican is bashed in the news media for weeks/months.
EXAMPLE:
Clinton would never have made it to the 2nd term as governor (much less made it as president) IF the news had told of his affairs & both bills & hillaries involvement with the failure of the Sunbelt Savings & Loans (Whitewater) I knew of this while living in Dallas - - So I know quite a few others knew about it.
EXAMPLE: IF Palin was a Republican would she have been castratede by the news as much as she has!
Just don't believe all the news you hear & read.
EXAMPLE: IF obama was republican - don't you think there would be a great deal of criticism about what he is doing?????!

Ummmmm, unless Palin quit them too, or changed her mind/forgot, etc.; she is a Republican already.

As for the Dems being praised for whatever they do, you must not have access to the "Fixed Noise" channel, Bill-o the Clown, or the Drugster: Rush Limbaugh. These sources do a pretty good job of blowing the RepubliCAN'T horn and have YET to acknowledge the Bush Administration's gutting of the US economy.

It's tit-for-tat, depending on which news source you choose to watch. I, for one, watch The Ed Show, Hardball, Countdown, and the Rachel Maddow Show every weekday. I smooth it all out with Meet the Press and Face the Nation on Sundays.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

Good info you stated but I was talking about the major newscasts/newspapers - that the majority of US listens to and read.
Those are the ones that the majority seems to believe is the truth - but far from it.
I wish more people would listen to sites such as you've listed and others like Huckabee, Glenn Beck. We all need to listen to both sides then figure out which you are actually for.

I am a conservative. I vote mostly republican, but I don't always agree with them. Right now though, I think that I will never agree with the dem's on anything. I am very opinionated on it, but don't want to cause any controversy!

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

Ho hum.
Look what is happening in the current administration and those who should be seeking what 'their' voters want, they just power and to keep their jobs.

I do NOT want socialized medicine. There is nothing wrong with our medical system - except for the cost. We need to stop allowing illegals use our ERs & hospitals so freely. AND citizens need to stop using ERs as their doctor. Too Much. We have all caused the Costs to go so high.

If we end up with socialized - government run- medical then we will gradually see Fewer & Fewer specialists and fewer & fewer good doctors.

And then there is the other things the government wants to run - other than GMC.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

Our "legislators" are merely pawns being manipulated by things we never hear of.
We are given "rights' to vote, drive, work, pay taxes, propagate, etc., that are really not rights, but what we are "allowed" to do. By whom? Government is a fuzzy term, and there is too much leeway for corruption, collusion, and cronyism. I have voted for many years, but only if I can pick who I want on any ticket, reguardless of affiliation.
I declined to vote for either Oboyama or McDrain. I declined to vote at all. Given the obviously rigged pairings, and all the other wingnuts, it was'nt worth the bother.
The dog and pony show we are being treated to is a joke. Are you laughing yet?

If Obama was a a conservative, the media would have hounded him to produce his birth certificate. There was a great furor to find GWB's National Guard records, the media wanted to know what he had to hide by not producing it, BHO has gone to great lengths in the courts to avoid having to produce his birth certificate. I dunno, it seems like the only people who don't want to produce documentation are those who have something to hide.

That's almost funny. Where do you get your information, the Comedy Channel? Obama hasn't spent one second "in the courts" to avoid producing his birth certificate. Fact is, he "produced" it during the campaign. Where were you at that time? Try Google for your very own copy of his REAL birth certificate.

You are right about the people with the most to hide being the one's who try the hardest to keep the facts hidden. That's why Georgie W obstructed the efforts to reveal his dismal attendance record at his Air Guard unit.

Jeeez.........., talk about old news.
