(im not for total socialism but it can contribute to a working society) there is a really good description of left-right-socialist-capitalist called the 'worlds smallest political quiz'. its more detailed beyond a classic left-right limited wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_spectrum

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
hey, recliner here. Well I'm a conservative, I will vote for McCain and Palin she is one sharp lady a true conservative that the republican party needs. I don't agree with McCain on some of his issues in the past he has leaned to far left, good buds with Kennedy.
Folks we are in deep trouble if obamma gets in, higher taxes, gun control, more government in our lives, what I want is less taxes and less government in my life. Did any one watch the history channel (modern marvels) it had a show about oil, just about everything we use in our lives is a oil byproduct, from womens makeup to the inside of our refrigerators, it is amazing how much oil is use in our lives, and for the far left saying oil is bad is just ridiculous, the liberals want us to drive tiny cars with lawn mower engines, obama wants us off oil in 10 years, wants uncle SAM more in our lives, higher taxes, and bake cakes and cookies for our enemies. I'll stop for now. thanks |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
I am a registered Republican - mainly because the 1st president I voted for was Republican - But I am also glad that I am. I am proud to be an American. I am proud of all members of our military whereever they are & their families. Personally I do not care for war but I am so thankful that we are fighting overseas and not here!
Whoever is the new President 2009 -can not & should not try to just pull out our troops from Iraq immediately. I plan to vote for McCain simply because I feel that he says what he thinks, not just trying to be 'politically' correct. He is definitely an American, loves the country and truly wants to do what is right. My vote is for McCain & Palin! |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
Remember - If it sounds too good to be true.... That is how socialism sounds. Socialised medicine sounds really good - we all get free medical. But look at the cost - half or more of our income will go to taxes to pay for this 'free' medical. Of course, those who don't work & pay no taxes probably do not care.
Plus what will happen in the long run - Where will all our specialists be - why should they spend all that extra time becoming a specialist if they all make the same $$. Look at Canada - they have no doctors or hospitals for at-risk pregnancies - what do they do - they send them to the USA. So look good & hard at socialised medicine. And the same goes for everything else is we had a socialised government. horrible. |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
Did you know that Canada if the USA's top supplier of oil? And did you know that gas cost the Canadians about $5/gallon? Taxes to pay for the 'free' medical!
And we complain about $4/gallon |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
Remember that no President can guarantee that the oil prices will go down.
Even if we drill more here that does not mean the prices will go down. They oil companies will simply sell to the highest bidder - not necessarily to the USA. |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
We desperately need to find alternatives to oil/gas.
A wealthy man (forgot name) has invested in windmills that should help our utilities. Any more rich folk out there to help find alternatives to oil/gas - looks like we need to do it - not depend on government. |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
Well, the time for America to decide on who will lead this nation is drawing closer and closer and I for one can not be more excited that i am this year. As i stated before i am dedicated Democrat and have been since my ability to vote. With that being said there is no doubt that i will be supporting Obama / Biden this year. McCain is just a continuation of the same failed policies of the Bush administration. Not to mention his hunger for big oil companies dollars. Additionally what worries me about McCain is how he continues to flip flop on issues on a daily basis, and to be honest i just cant trust his judgement. I mean come on he picks a VP that was a mayor of a city of approx 6,000.
Contrary to GOP rhetoric Palin is the most inexperienced candidate. After all these months of McCain pointing the finger and Obama for being inexperienced.. **shakes head** For those of you that will say Palin is more qualified than Obama that's pure non-sense. Another thing that infuriates me with the GOP is they are so busy pumping McCain up to be a "Maverick" that they are failing to address the issues that truly effects the American people. The economy is in utter shambles, the housing market is horrible, our foreign policy credentials throughout the world are completely ruined. I guess it really is politics as usual within the GOP party :( |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
unfortunately a lot of people keep their heads stuck in the sand (like an ostrich) not really seeing the whole picture.
I will definitely not vote for Obama - he tries not to say anything controversial - tries to be 'politically correct' So noone really knows how he actually thinks. If he does become president - God help America!! Everyone needs to pray!! |

I'd still call myself an Independent, as I disagree with too many policies of Democrats and Republicans to be affiliated with either side. |

Re: Democrat Or Republican?
I voted; No Affiliation
First of all, I find it refreshing that the TSF forum has a thread called; “The Political Scene”. I applaud the Administrators ! Whereas, no other forum’s that I am aware of will tolerate ANY Political or Religious postings; for, fear of what, the ideological positions of their Member’s? Then why, was their forum created? By definition; a forum is the creative exchange of facts, ideas, and opinions. As long as the conversation between members is cordial, and compassionate towards others ideals, and beliefs, I see no problem. I voted no affiliation, because, honestly, I have none, and never have, maybe never will. If my father taught me anything, He taught me; never trust, a liar, a thief, or a cheat. I know, I could be classed as a late “Baby Boomer”, being born in 1951. Back then the legal voting age was 21, I reached that in 1972, and a year earlier in ’71, it was changed by Constitutional Amendment #26 to 18; See Oregon vs. Mitchell here Anyone remember: The “Cold War, Civil Defense drills, Eisenhower, Assassinations, the riots at the ’68 Democratic Convention, Vietnam War, going to the Moon, Woodstock, Nixon, The ’73 Oil embargo, Gerald Ford, Carter, Reagan”? I grew up in an era (In my interpretation) of unparalleled turmoil of American History, although, I still do not understand how our family relatives made it through WW1, and WW2, without some kind of structured mental/physical health care. Could you kill another Human Being, only knowing that if you did not, you might be next? I believe they called it “Shell Shock”, and dealt with it the best they could. Our family members came home from wars that they just wanted to forget, and get on with their lives. “There would be no wars, if politicians, were made to fight them.” Unknown, although I had heard a variation of this Quote a few years ago, not sure who is responsible. Which brings me back to this poll, the only President that I admire is George Washington. Congress in 1788, wanted to make him King of the United States of America, and he said no. Remember what my father taught me? Even then, what does this tell you about Congress? The polite term is political positioning. He even did not want to be President; He felt He had done enough, just helping this country break the bonds of England, and King George. He only wanted to return to his estate at Mount Vernon, and chill out, but after some persuasion, agreed to become President, and it lasted for two terms. His only Political party affiliation was; “The Virginia Home State Political Party”. Some historians may insist that he was a “Constitutionalist” or even a “Federalist”, but George held fast in his belief that Political parties would be the downfall of these United States, and was the ONLY President without any National Party affiliation. That downfall started with John Adams, a Federalist, and has grown to, on this day of the $110 million dollar inauguration of the 44th President, an embarrassment, that the United States will never recover from. I am shamed, that if I declare myself any affiliation other than Democrat or Republican I can not vote in our primaries, only general elections….It was made this way by savvy politicians to squeeze out the “Independent”; The term “Gerrymandering” comes to mind. I do not know what could be done to correct this situation; what could an Independent do? With only “two loves and five fishes”. I had a history teacher in high school tell the class: “Anyone can start a revolution, but you better damn well win it” I have to go now…..Won’t be seeing any of the Inaugural, my wife’s father passed away Friday, today’s the viewing, and tomorrows’ the internment. Thank You for taking the time to read my thought's on this. |
