Re: Democrat Or Republican?

I've voted Liberal Democrat (British party) more often than not, but they're going downhill atm.
If I lived in the US, I would vote Democrat, basically cos GWB can't string a sentence together.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

If I could vote, I would vote for moderates regardless of party. So I would end up voting for both democrats and republicans.

For the 2008 elections, the people I want to see nominated are either John Edwards or Obama for democrats or Giulianni (maybe McCain b/c he's more moderate than many Republicans) for Republicans.

As a super-power we should be using our resources and technology in a more effecient manner, they are using the technology we taught them against us...go figure. We are pretty much a laughing stock of the International Community. If it wasn't for our brute strength we would be doomed. We also believe our own governemts propaganda (Bull Crap). Living in American is like a reality T.V. show on steroids. I still have faith that things will turn around for better. Just thought I would throw that out there....
I live in England and I think you hit the nail on the head here, this is the wider view of the international community (not so much mine) and it's no good people saying that America will win the war on terror alone because it won't, (not while iran is funding it), it needs the international community as one to make a difference.

Being honest, I don't really know the ins and outs of American politics, so I suppose I would vote Democrat being a labour supporter here.

I have always voted Labour over here as they seemed to be the better party for the country, (£5.85/hour minimum wage, ($10 ish), NHS etc, but come 2010 when we can vote, I'm going to have to have a really hard think as to who I vote for.

I don't really have an opinion of George Bush as long as he doesn't prevoke Iran or we are all in the s**t but I do think that it is time for a change and it is good that you have a fixed term limit for presidents, as there is none of that here, but over here for years there was only one party to vote for and that was labour.

But whoever you have as the next president, Obama, Clinton, McCain, Romney etc they need to get a grip of the gun problem over there, It's terrible to see all these people on the news being needlessly killed.

Just thought I'd air my views, not living in America and all that,

Ben

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

I can't see voting for any of them. They all have their own agenda. I'd much prefer someone sincere and a real tough guy. I'd vote for Jesse Ventura any day of the week.

Stephen Colbert for president!!! :)

Seriously though, I'm a republican. I have some democratic viewpoints but all in all, I lean pretty far to the right.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

Schwarzenegger is pretty good as long as he has the dems checking him from going too far right.

If he ran for senate and caucused with the dems I could go for that too.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

I belong to the Constitution party and I don't like either candidate.
McCain is too far left and the O man is just soo out there.

McCain wasn't nominated by the Republicans, he was appointed and the O man needs to watch his back because the Hildabeast is not done with this election.

Exclamation Re: Democrat Or Republican?

The only way Barrack Obama does not when the election is that the Repubican's some how steal the race. Which is not likely because Obama is too smart for that. Or he get's assasinated. Which will show the true sespool the United States really is on the World-Wide stage. The facad of the United State has already been exposed due to the fact of the internet. The genie is out of the bottle and we can't put it back in. Other 3rd world countries are learning from our greedy mistakes ie..Iraq war, Stock Market mess, Housing crisis, Energy crisis, Food, Water..you name it. The U.S. is like living in a real life exotic thriller for all the world to see. We are in a time warp...hold on to you seats.

I'm out...

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

I am a Conservative. Registered Independant. The Republicans have moved too far to the left for me. And the Democrats are off the charts (to the extreme left). This is my opinion anyways.

I was democrat. A Scoop Jackson, Zell Miller democrat. I didnt leave them, they left me. Then I was a republican. A Ronaldo Maxus republican. Again I didnt leave them, they left me.

I can hardly stand Bush with his 'unlimited' big government spending and new entitlement programs. Hes a true global socialist. I cant stand McCain. He's such an economic illiterate. He wants shamnesty, buys into the A-GW hoax and he wants to give terrorists the bill of rights. But as if that wasnt bad enough, Obama as it turns out is a true socialist/marxist. He will outright spend and tax us into a depression.

So ... we got 2 idiots (nominated by the media) to choose from. One is clearly more dangerous to both our prosperity and our sovereignty. Out of what? 300 ... 330 million americans these 2 are the 'cream of the crop'? Please ... dont insult my intelligence.

So I gotta choose now between worse and worse than worse? This has really gotten out of hand. This is what happens when liberalism is institutionalized and becomes the 'default' culture. In other words average people who pay scant attention to the political arena (because of freedom they have more important things to worry about in their day-to-day lives) just automatically assume the liberal positions they are taught in our institutions of higher learning and bombarded with every day in the news, hollywood and advertising. And some power hungry nitwits in Washington.

Maybe we need Obama as president to finish this country off. Maybe americans will 'wake up' just as they did with Jimmy Carter. Maybe ...

I liked Fred Thompson too. I got a few of his bumper stickers when he was running (because I knew he wasnt going to stay in, I hoped he would but ..) just to show my displeasure with the current choice of dingbats.

I havent decided if Im going to vote yet or not. These 2 choices make me wanna puke.

I like your thinking Janice, and if we were in almost any other point in history I would have to agree. The fact is, right now NObama and the Dem's could do so much irreversible damage to this country that I can't fathom having these clowns run the country...

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

if there was any type of real democracy in north america both Canada & USA would have far better representation of everyone in their governments. fairvote.us & fairvote.ca
consider the options that every other democracy in the world is changing to, mixed member representation, condorcet voting, run-off elections, proportional represention. no more of this crap that if your party doesnt win plurality then your screwed and dont get any representation at all.
and for god sakes USA get rid of those electronic machines and get paper back in the system to do a proper accurate recount when needed!

We can't use paper... the enviromental groups get all up in arms about it, and then get mad when we use computers because they use electricity... its a no win situation

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

I didn't read through everything, but from the what your guys wrote in the first dozens of post, you really need to redefine what far left/center/far right are. The democrats are NOT far left, communists are. Republicans are NOT far right, fascists are.

Also, I think you should compare yourself to the rest of the world because if you do, you will find that democrats are actually center leaning right (yes, right) and republicans are in the middle of center and far right. If you look at France (middle of center and left, e.g. taxes on great fortunes) or Canada (center leaning left, universal health care), you will see that both democrats are republicans are both right of the center line.

Re: Democrat Or Republican?

That may be true to the rest of the world but not here. Democrats have gotten really far to what WE define as left (universal healthcare taxes on any ammount of fortune) and the republicans have moved to center left.
