Arnold says no to Williams

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051212/...NlYwMlJVRPUCUl

All along he has maintained his innocence. If he had come out and and said he did it and is a changed man, then maybe he is better served to society as an activist. However, based on his claim of innocence (I wonder how many other death row inmates have claimed their innocence until the end) and an apparent lack of remorse, clemencey cannot be granted. So everybody think of the hokey pokey song and sing along:

You put the needle in,
you tie the inmate down,
You push the drugs in and watch him thrash around.
You carry out his sentence and watch the liberals start to frown,
That's what it's all about.

As I understand, Arnold has been lobbying to get that changed.

This would bring up a good discussion.
A person, not born in the US , cannot be President. However It does not state that the Vice President has to be a natural born U.S. citizen.
What would happen if something happen to the President, where he would have to leave office, and the Vice President wasn't a natural born U.S. citizen?

Ah good question. While I did not major in ploitical sicence, it and history tend to go hand in hand. If a person is ineligble, they get passed over. So let's say Rudy Giulliani is pres and Arnold is VP and Rudy dies, the next in line, the Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, would be president. The SOTH is third because he is the leader of the house and is elected closest to the people.

The order, if eligible is:

The Vice President Richard Cheney
Speaker of the House John Dennis Hastert
President pro tempore of the Senate Ted Stevens
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
Secretary of the Treasury John Snow
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales
Secretary of the Interior Gale A. Norton
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns
Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez
Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao
Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Alphonso Jackson
Secretary of Transportation Norman Yoshio Mineta
Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman
Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson
Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff

Arnold is a little to close to the center for the conservative base that got Bush 4 years. So are Rudy and McCain. Mark my words now, if Cheney decides to run, he'll get nominated.

Be careful, big brother is watching.

In all seroiusnes, I do not know. I figure FBI director, CIA director and then maybe house majority leader, seante majority leader and then maybe the whips and minority leaders and then maybe governors of the various states. The only time succession becomes questionable is at the state of the union address each January. If you look on the podium, you see the prez, the vp, and the speaker of house all together! So in this situation, one cabinet member is usually VERY far away from the district.

I would have thought it would make more sense to make an interim quorum to lead the country rather than appoint some lowly politician to a post he's not prepared for.

Scratch that, I know how much politicians argue. Nothing would get done.

I think too that if Cheney decides to run he will be nominated just because of his expierence. I agree 100% with you Mcain and Rudy are to liberal on social issues for many conservatives like myself. I think if Mcain runs he will likely be nominated with the Democratic Party. JK lol. No I think we might have to wait and see who comes out. The Mit Romney just got out and there are already rumors. Who knows??

What about Hillary? Is she going to go for it? If not who else to the Democrats have? Dean? Kerry? ...god forbid...

McCain would never get my vote. He's a sellout. He sure did a good job with campain finance reform though. Getting together with one of the most left wing senators there is and stand up for holy pictures for a bill that only brought us the 527's. Thanks maverick. Now he's spouting of about a bill against torture. It's already against the law. He doesn't do a thing worth while.

How 'bout Condi? The first black/women president. We all know it'll be the conservatives who break the bearier. So let's get it over with. I nominate Condi for president!!!

She is trying to make herself look like a centrist. She kind of backs the war in Iraq. This is infuriating the George Soros types and moveon.org, which currently is the democratic base (I wonder if Leiberman and McCain would forma center part?) and she would likely lose the nomination unles she panders to them.

What about JEB? or Frist? or Mitt Romeny? Condi would be OK (think of all the Uncle Tom references the libs would lay on her) and I have always liked Elizabeth Dole.

I tell you one thing, it needs not to be a senator. Most Senators have voting records a mile long and to quote the president from when I saw him 10/29/04 "The Senator can run from his record, but he can't hide". The only two sitting senators to ever get elected: 1960, JFK (in a close race). Warren Harding in 1920.
