Medical-pot fans fear Obama policy 'loopholes'
(10-19) 18:21 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- Medical marijuana advocates in California said the Obama administration's announcement of new guidelines for pot prosecutions Monday contained some hopeful signs, but lacked the specifics needed to keep patients and their suppliers out of court.
"It's an extremely welcome rhetorical de-escalation of the federal government's long-standing war on medical marijuana patients," said Stephen Gutwillig, state director of the Drug Policy Alliance. Dale Gieringer, California coordinator of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, said the administration's advice to U.S. attorneys that they respect state law - such as California's Proposition 215, the 1996 measure legalizing medicinal use of the drug - was encouraging. However, he added, "the policy has major loopholes that give prosecutors broad discretion to determine what they think is legal." Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...#ixzz0URA1poUj

Re: Medical-pot fans fear Obama policy 'loopholes'
It is mostly implementing the original context of the Marijuana Act.
Too much profitability, and not enough tax? A lot is already being paid, but a lot is bypassing the regs. If US farmers were allowed to have massive crops, there would be a lot of tax rolling in. Plus, the bio-mass would be available for manufacturing use. Again, more tax revenue. I stand for un-inhibited use of Hemp/Marijuana in any and all forms. If we have an apathetic nation now, think of them all stoned!

Re: Medical-pot fans fear Obama policy 'loopholes'
You gots demoncrats here? Dont they like taxes? There's plenty good money to be made, by supplyin the people with the drug they crave. Let's make it pot, instead of worse drugs. Face it, people want something to dent their minds from the everyday travails that are increasingly making us overburdened. A bit of nature never hurt anyone.
