North Korea's Magical Mystery Tour
North Korea continues to engage in behavior that seems strange to say the least. For the past two weeks, the Kang Nam 1 has pursued a meandering, 10 knot course in the China Sea, while being shadowed by a U.S. destroyer. Some analysts believe that the ship is carrying conventional arms for Myanmar, some think its only purpose is to confuse and piss off America.
You can read differing analyses at Military.com and GlobalSecurity.org.

Did they ever file the missile towards Hawaii on the 4th? I haven't seen it on any of the websites.

Re: North Korea's Magical Mystery Tour
Reminds me of this joke:
A cop is watching a roadside bar at the edge of town just at closing time. Hoping to catch the inevitable drunk trying to begin his trek home, he's concealed just up the road away from town so he can follow the idiot. Out of the bar staggers a man in an obvious state of drunkenness. His shirt is untucked. His coat is miss-buttoned. He trips twice walking to the parking area. He drops his keys retrieving them from his pants. Tries to open a car only to realize its not his. He clearly has forgot where he parked so he scans the entire lot. Finally, noticing his car he bounces pinball style through the parked cars. The cop follows every drunken move. Knowing for sure he'll make an arrest and meet his monthly goal. The drunk finally gets to his car. Starts the engine and turns on the wipers even though it is not raining. He turns them off and then the lights come on. Into reverse he goes - but its forward to get to the exit. Now at the exit he first signals left (toward town) then changes his mind and signals right - away from town and toward the waiting patrol car. As he passes, the cop pulls out to follow and notices that he's not speeding, he's not veering across the lanes, in fact he's obeying every law. After a few miles of this the cop decides to pull him over anyway. He approaches the car and asks the driver to get out. Driver: "Is there a problem officer?" Officer: "I think you're drunk." Driver: "I beg to differ. I haven't had anything to drink tonight." Officer: "That can't be true. I saw you in the parking lot and you were clearly drunk. How can this be? Please explain." Driver: "That's easy. I'm the designated decoy."

Re: North Korea's Magical Mystery Tour
It is a test from North Korea, and Iran for that matter, for President Obama. They see him as weak and submissive. They can get away with things that a President with serious National security goals, would not let them get away with.

Re: North Korea's Magical Mystery Tour
The facts of the case are that the real deception with nuclear weapons started when Bill Clinton trusted them without verification and they lied to him about building strategic weapons and he bought their story hook, line, and sucker....err, I mean sinker, while they continued to build nuclear weapons. Bush picked up a gaggle of issues from your friend Slick Willy.

Re: North Korea's Magical Mystery Tour
Don't really see it as a partisan issue myself. These two countries do not like us for whatever reason and they are willing to lie, cheat, etc. to do whatever it takes to gain an upper hand.
If they lied in their diplomatic meetings with the Clinton administations' delegates, then ok. Shame on them. Sometimes you have to take someone at their word. If they stick it to you later, then it's the old "fool me once shame on you", "fool me twice shame on me" scenario. These are unreasonable people we are dealing with and will likely understand only military force. Unfortunately, looks like the next theatre for U.S. and NATO forces will be the Korean Peninsula (again) and Japan just a stones' (missile) throw away.

Re: North Korea's Magical Mystery Tour
I'd say you've hit on an idea that we can all agree on. In the case of North Korea, the inmates are definitely running the asylum. No matter how I try to bend my mind around to see the point of so many North Korean actions, I just can't find motives that make sense to me.
