The president had said in the past that he doesn’t believe taxing health care benefits at any level is necessarily the best way to go here. He still believes that.

But there are a number of formulations and we’ll wait and see. The important thing at this point is to keep the process moving, to keep people at the table, to the keep the discussions going. … one of the problems we’ve had in this town is that people draw lines in the sand and they stop talking to each other. And you don’t get anything done.
So is it a change from the "my way or the highway" approach of an unnamed former pres? <<cough>> <<cough>>

We report. You decide.

Re: Whitehouse wont rule out middle class tax hike

But Obama promised that anyone making under $200,000 a year would not see an increase in their taxes. That's exactly what's going on here. Letting Bush's tax cuts expire is also a tax hike.

Bottom line.......... we all will be paying more.

You are darn right it is a big change. There is no comparison here.

Obama promised not to raise taxes for those under $200,000 and here he is trying to do just that. At least the unnamed former President was honest and said "My way or the Highway," and he did exactly that. He gave his word and kept it.

Your guy is all over the place with his promises that lasted only until he was elected. When promises are broken and only token, the maker is a faker. Guess what, that would be your guy!

Its a bit of a leap to go from "we’ll wait and see" to he's raising taxes.

Now don't get me wrong: I firmly believe in the old saying: No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session. So it would not surprise me at all to see my health benefits taxed. Obama and congress will say they tried every other way to do it but could not make the numbers work (when has thet ever stopped them???). But you're putting the cart before the horse to make the claim now based on Axelrod not saying Obama won't rule it out.

Re: Whitehouse wont rule out middle class tax hike

While I agree with what you are saying, especially about the legislature being in session, when he says he won't rule that out, that is contradictary to We WON'T raise taxes on those.............. He did not say we will wait and see, he did not say we won't rule that out, he said WE WON'T RAISE TAXES on those who make less than $200,000. I understand exactly what he said and I understand how he is waffling now.

There should be no consideration of such if he is a man of his word (which we both know now, he is not) with the many promises he has already broken. With this guy Yustr, you are going to have a long four years defending his obvious deceptions that he made in his campaign for President.

Cool your jets Simpswr, we only want to put up with this bag of hot air for the least allowable by law. By the time Obama gets done gutting the constitution and raiding the economy, they won't remember who GWB even was.

Drew, don't get me started on that waste (Carter) who was actually voted to be President. Thank goodness, for one term only.

I about puke every time I see him on the TV stating how wonderful the terrorist groups are and how bad the US and Israel are. Talk about a waste, he is the epitome of egotistical ignorance and never did have a clue what being a President of the United States actually meant. Arg, there you go, got me on a roll and those 22% interest rates under Carter............. End of Rant, I am cooled down now.

We know he has some idea of what political suicide is, let's hope that deters him.

Al Gore said he is running for Governor of Indiana and Mitch Daniels was among 3 GOP politicians arrested in a massage parlor raid in the city by the bay.
