As a non-smoker I could give two craps about what happens to big tobacco, however, I do have an issue with our government trying to get their hooks in to everything. They're going after guns, tobacco, and what's next, alcohol?

hence the ATF dj :P

However I'm am worried about the precedence this is setting... they have nationalized two auto companies, several banks, and now tobacco... threats have been raised when gas was skyrocketing about nationalizing the oil industry...

Re: Obama signs strongest anti-smoking measure ever

Of course I'm very aware of the BATF, but my comment was a bit sarcastic since two of the three are already under attack! I also agree about the gubmint getting their hands on the various markets they've already entered. Again, as common sense would dictate, if they can't manage themselves, what comfort do we have that they can manage things they have even less experience with. This, to me, is the real critical limitation to Obama's previous national political experience. Two years is not enough. He's advocating we get rid of GITMO without the benefit of ANY kind of military or foreign relations experience. You don't fight savages with diplomacy, they don't respond to it. They only respond to a like or greater threat.
