This "publicity is a good thing" bill targets businesses with over 100 employees so my guess is that you're right.

actually this law will hurt the employees and help the companies. The companies that already offers more than the law requires could drop down to the minimum the law requires.

Obama? Even when Bush was in office we leftists knew the difference.

Bill introduced by Representative Alan Grayson D-FL.

Quote:
On Wednesday, Grayson weighed in on the dispute between the Obama administration and Rush Limbaugh, calling the conservative talk show host “a sorry excuse for a human being.” In January, he referred to Limbaugh as a “has-been hypocrite loser” who “was more lucid when he was a drug addict.”
I might move to FL just to vote for this guy. Agree or not, you have to admit his candor in refreshing.

Re: Paid Vacation Act

So we should support this guy and this stupid bill because he doesn't like Rush Limbaugh?

I can't think of a better reason.

Actually its the fact that he'll say it that I like. I haven't a clue about this or any other bill he's written. Turn it around; suppose a Rep from OK came right out and said: Al Gore is a bag of flaming do-do. Wouldn't you at least smile?

Re: Paid Vacation Act

Brilliant, so people who got two weeks of vacation time after a year will now only get one.

Good this thing won't pass.

Don't think I ever heard you admit you were a "leftist," however, we could tell anyhow so admitting it just seals the deal.

Smile???? That would be worth a hearty laugh and a few words like someone finally has it right. Yep, that might be worth moving to OK to vote for someone who tells it like it is.

A one week vacation is nothing and would never be acceptable in most places. I suspect government interference might cause some to scale back longer vacations already in place to "meet" government guidelines. I say, let the marketplace between workers and unions decide issues like this one and keep government out of this stuff. Government was not meant originally to delve in issues like this, so why are they doing it?

Better yet, dismiss the congress for a couple of years and quit passing worthless legislation. Our country would be better off if they weren't around the next year or so. That way, they can't screw things up more than they are.

I wondered how long it would take for someone to pick up on that...

But if Colin Powell is "just another liberal" and since liberal is a perjorative in the vernacular of the righties, there's some comfort being a leftist.

The bill has no chance of passing. And even if it had a chance, it is clearly geared a setting a minimum standard - not to mandate an amount. (The minimum should be closer to 30 days like other civilized countries.) Come on rightists - have faith that your sacred market will work.

Re: Paid Vacation Act

You want a mandated 30 days of paid vacation? Join the military! As I always advocate, if your employer isn't giving you what you need or feel you deserve, find another one! I don't think the federal government should tell an employer what they should give an employee in the way of days off, it's not really any of their business.

Didn't take those of us who "knew" long ago to pick it up, did it?

I don't know who on here said Colin Powell was just another liberal, but I respectfully disagree. He is a great American who has both a liberal and a conservative perspective and isn't afraid to say what he thinks.

Personally, I don't think being a total liberal or a total conservative is healthy (and for those who wonder, my friend yustr isn't totally liberal), I think one must speak their convictions while weighing which position is correct or incorrect as it is aligned with the constitution.

I am completely conservative and if anyone thinks I am not healthy, I'll shot them and then pray for their soul.
