Obama: It's a Good Time to Buy Stocks

President Obama said Tuesday that now is a good time for investors to buy stocks if they focus on the big picture.

The Dow plunged Monday to its lowest level in 12 years.

"What you're now seeing is a profit and earnings ratios get to the point that buying stocks is a good thing if you have a long-term perspective on it," he said to reporters after meeting in the Oval Office with visiting British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The president compared the market to daily tracking polls used by politicians, saying that paying too close attention to Wall Street's "fits and starts" could lead to bad long-term policy.

"The stock market is story of like a tracking poll in politics. It bobs up and down day-to-day," Obama said. "And if you spend all your time worrying about that, then you're probably going to get the long-term strategy wrong."

I have to agree with this one. It is a good time to buy stocks. Get them while they are down. Though they may go lower, I doubt they will go much lower. If you have the cash and willing or have the nerve to hold for a few years, you could make a fortune. Just dont get Chrysler stock :-)

I would be buying too if I had the money. I think its a good time to buy some of the larger companies like Coke or Johnson and Johnson.

As soon as I get taxes paid for 2008, I'm buying Ford, as much as I can afford!

For those that don't know Peter Schiff, YouTube him or Google him. Very smart man and knows what he's talking about. Get out of American stocks. Get out of the dollar. Invest in gold, silver, commodities, and foreign companies.

He was right about the economy when he predicted it years ago and he will be right again when he says that the dollar will soon crash and the US will go bankrupt.

You're on a ship thats just hit an iceberg. Do you try to keep the ship afloat by patching, and perhaps throwing cargo overboard; or do you abandon ship to float in an inhospitable place in the middle of nowhere in just a liferaft?

There are certain companies that are going to be around forever whos stocks have taken a huge hit. You can invest in them and still make a huge profit line IF you wait about 6-8 years if not longer.

BUT make sure your portfolio is diverse with gold and silver for christs sake people. Dont be dumb and buy nothing but paper!!!

You have 2 choices. Use your money to buy American shares, but with the risk that if America goes bankrupt you go down with it. Or buy gold and foreign shares, but with the risk that if everyone does that, America will fall into chaos.
