RNC spends thousands on dresses, make-up for Sarah Palin & family

"Sarah Palin also has a spectacular new wardrobe, and Republican campaign donors picked up the breathtaking tab.

The Republican National Committee spent $150,000 on clothing and accessories for the vice presidential candidate and her family since early September, according to a report by the Politico Web site.

At Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Manhattan and St. Louis, the RNC paid for $49,425.74 in Palin apparel, the report said, citing financial disclosure records.

There also was a $75,062.63 shopping spree at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, where the Palins stayed during the Republican National Convention last month; $9.447.71 at Macy's in Minneapolis; and $5,102.71 at Bloomingdale's in New York.

Another $4,716.49 on hair and makeup came from the GOP while wooing "Joe Six-Pack" to vote for John McCain, the records showed. And more than $5,000 went to a men's store and a baby clothing store.

Joe Biden's uninspired wardrobe does not receive a campaign subsidy, a source close to Biden said, and the follicle-challenged Democratic veep nominee gets $20 haircuts from a barber in Wimington, Del., according to past reports.

Just to refresh your memory mimo, that was the "not too smart-babe in every hotel with kid" John Edwards dude. Does that help your memory?

I wonder if the new wardrobe had anything to do with obamas statement about lipstick on a pig...

seriously, this is a serious violation of campaign laws. They claim the wardrobe will be donated to charity after the campaign but I wonder who?? Spend that kind of money of clothes, it would have been better to give the cash to a charity...

I guess when you spend as much time traveling as Palin and her family do, supplying a few old rags is only simple charity from the RNC.

Yes , that one , thanks .

If John Edwards got a $400 haircut *every week*, it would take him 7.2 *years* to spend the 150kthe RNC has blown on dressing, coiffing and perfuming Sarah and her family.

Re: RNC spends thousands on dresses, make-up for Sarah Palin & family

I was listening to talk radio on the way home this morning and the several of mccains supporters that was giving obama a hardtime for his celebrity status instead of talking about the issues was griping that eveyone should not be so focus on the clothes but instead should be focus on the issues. What hypocrites!!!! As usual the shoe is on the other foot and they dont like it.

I still think its a valid issue since its campaign funds. IMO, Paylin could have shown that shes no different from anyone else by getting her clothes at Walmart instead of being such an elitist and getting her threads at sax. It would have made a better impression.

And Obama's camp that decried McCain's talk about Obama being a celebrity instead of talking about issues is now talking about clothes... what hypocrites

The RNC is a private group, just like the DNC... they endorse the canadites that are going to run for their party... if the DNC decided to buy clothes thats their perogative.

Public funds do not go into their accounts, they go into McCain and Obama's accounts, you can donate to with group the RNC or McCain... since McCain took the public funding route he cannot take more money from private people OR the RNC... however what the RNC does is their business... if they buy clothes (and then donate them, or sell them for charity like they said they would do)
