American Flag Flown Upside Down

I watched a movie called "In the Valley of Elah" this week. At the end , Tommy lee jones raises the American flag of his dead son upside down.As you know, flying the American flag upside down is a type of SOS signal.

It 's an eye opener about how this administration put our nation,our people, our economy in distress.

When GW "won" again in 2004, I wanted to hang my flag upside down as a symbol of America in distress. Hubby wouldn't let me do it. We live in a neighborhood with armed rednecks. (No offense to you nice rednecks out there.) So I took it down completely. It will not go up again until Bush exits the White House in January.

(Although if McCain, with all his dirty tricks, manages to pull it off, my flag will never go out again.)

Innocent people dead on both sides ( see movie) , The Bush administration continues to hide the numbers of people who are disabled mentally, physically and maimed for life without making the "killed" list. There was so much good that came out of WWII. I think that was the last war that was purely good against evil.
Moving forward, I don't want the US to EVER again invade a country under the guise of liberating them. I would like to see us move more toward an isolationist policy that will support United Nations efforts and nothing else.
And we better not EVER invade a country for potential economic gain or we will never again be able to call ourselves Americans.Iraq war is the biggest mistake in this century , not only it put our psyche and dynamic down , it killed what America always stood for.If you can't see it , it 's because you are blind.

I can't help wondering if anyone would realise if the Union Jack (British flag) was upside down.

So Drew; have you been doing anything to make you blind?

just teasing...just could not resist.

flying the american flag upside down does not always mean distress. It can also be turned upside down in protest of something which it seems was being done in the movie.
