Joe the Plumber Ain't One

This is just too funny! Joe the Plumber doesn't have a plumber's license. Not only does he not have a license, the company he works for seems to have some licensing problems in the the area in which they do business. Joe's employer, Newell Plumbing and Heating seems to do under $100,000 gross per year. You can read the story here and then file Joe in the "More Republican Lies and Distortions" folder.

The interesting part for me is that even after their lies are exposed they persist in trying to use them.

I think Joe the unlicensed plumber did this just to get free tax and investment analysis.

you know for the longest I have thought obama ran an amateurish campaign but I am beginning to think that McCains campaign people are the real amateurs. Don't anyone fact/background check anymore for things that can backfire.

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

Also, from what I read, it is a 2 person plumbing outfit that "dear old Joe" wanted to purchase..... 7th parapraph.

http://www.myembarq.com/news/read.ph...ARSDCCL3_UNEWS

Gonna have to put in lots of overtime or really gouge the customers to excede the $250k limit.

Way to go poor old Joe!!!

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

I guess I should have followed the link provided by Chode before making the previous post....... much better link!!

Looks like Joe better look for a new occupation, or take his master plumbing exam. Joe's big yap might cause his boss's company to become history. All mechanical contractors (I believe) in the state of Ohio MUST be licensed.

John McCain sure picked a good example to cite in his debates, almost as good as his pick for VP. Talk about shootin' yourself in the foot!! Next thing you know he'll book a hunting trip with Cheney??

Again, Way To Go Joe!! I hope you don't fix plumbing problems like the way you tried to help Sen. McCain's campaign.

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

I like the way that Joe the Plumber is suddenly becoming a celebrity on a whole bunch of talk shows. What is funnier yet, is that he is "stuck on stupid" and it is very obvious. I am not sure who is displaying the most stupid at this time. My guess that it is a toss up between Joe the Plumber and the Talk Show hosts who have him on. I do wish some of these people would get a life!

What gets me is that McCain keeps using "my friend Joe the plumber" long after Joe has said he will be voting for Obama . . .

fellas; only construction companies have local jurisdiction licenses ....... and a journeymen or apprentice union membership is no more a license than !@#$%^&*()

there are far more tradesmen who are not unionized than vs versa ......... some of us dont need a union to secure a living for us, we can stand on our own merit.

validation of "experience" only thru unions is a complete joke ..... some of the most protected useless bums I have ever had the "pleasure" of being forced to give a paycheck to were union workers!

dont bite on that horse !@#$%^&*()_

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

Actually, licensing requirements vary, and Joe & Newell do appear to be in violation of a couple where they work. Here in Texas, the requirements are pretty clear, and you can't can't call yourself a plumber without a license, and you can't do most work legally. For my state, the overview is here.

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

Chode........ I have been in the construction trades my entire life ( over 30 years of in field experience) ....... I am third generation ....... we have contracted work all over the united states ..... small companies that cant afford the licensing requirements work as sub-contractors under another companies license ....... we have done millions of dollars of work all over florida, texas, louisana every time a natural disaster comes and they are short of contractors .....we have crews that travel there to work ........ we work under compaies that have licenses

do all those mexican workers I have competed against in Texas have "licenses"

the term "journeymen and apprentice" is only a union moniker ....... that is not a local jursdiction title

if Joe the plumber has made a living for 6 years in teledo performing plumbing work ....... I "think" he is a plumber

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

His boss, Al Newell of Newell Plumbing and Heating Co. of Toledo, is a licensed plumbing contractor in Toledo, records show. But anyone working under Newell should have a journeyman’s plumbing license or an apprenticeship license, officials said.

these officials that are quoted are "union pushers"

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

According to my quick read of the Ohio licensing law, our Joe (Mr. Linderman) is correct. I see no mention of a requirement for Joe the Plumber to have a license. But, he must work under the direct supervision of a person who does. If he wanted to buy the business, then he'd have to get a license.

Re: Joe the Plumber Ain't One

What I found funny about this whole thing is that Joe asked a question... Obama slipped with his "spread the wealth around" comment... so the left attacks Joe.

Sounds like a play in the republican "playbook" the left so likes to call out!
