"But here we are, 5 years into a war that is extremely unpopular with the public and I couldn’t think of one anti-war song that is played on the radio."

Let them eat war - Bad Religion

International Criminal - The Slackers

Lion and the Lamb - The Get Up Kids

Tanks, Tanks, Tanks - Defiance, Ohio

Warbrain - Alkaline Trio

The yeah yeah yeah song - The Flaming Lips

Travellin Soldier - Dixie Chicks (shutup, i know)

ps: In 2006, Clear Channel Communications was acquired by Bain Capital and Thomas Lee Partners for nearly $19 billion. Bain Capital is an investment firm which was founded by former (pro-war) presidential candidate and Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney.

Not in our area!

# The labels don't want to put out music that they'd have a hard time promoting or getting played on...
# Conservative radio stations who don't want to give their dwindling audiences reasons to change channels... and who owned by corporations who are big Bush supporters. Radio stations also tend to avoid anything with political themes so they don't rile the...

#Conservative talk show hosts and politicians who are desperate to latch on to any issue that can distract people from more important things... like the economy, the price of food, the erosion of civil liberties, etc...

Here is more songs for you :

"When The President Talks To God"
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KIIImiRDnF8

and
Landlocked Blues

Quote:
"When The President Talks To God"

When the president talks to God Are the conversations brief or long? Does he ask to rape our women’s rights And send poor farm kids off to die? Does God suggest an oil hike When the president talks to God?

When the president talks to God Are the consonants all hard or soft? Is he resolute all down the line? Is every issue black or white? Does what God say ever change his mind When the president talks to God?

When the president talks to God Does he fake that drawl or merely nod? Agree which convicts should be killed? Where prisons should be built and filled? Which voter fraud must be concealed When the president talks to God?

When the president talks to God I wonder which one plays the better cop We should find some jobs. the ghetto's broke No, they're lazy, George, I say we don't Just give 'em more liquor stores and dirty coke That's what God recommends

When the president talks to God Do they drink near beer and go play golf While they pick which countries to invade Which Muslim souls still can be saved? I guess god just calls a spade a spade When the president talks to God

When the president talks to God Does he ever think that maybe he's not? That that voice is just inside his head When he kneels next to the presidential bed Does he ever smell his own BS When the president talks to God?

I doubt it

I doubt it

Re: Corporate Control of Music

More to the point, most of the artists and most of the people who buy music just aren't very political. I think we've been through a good many years lately when lots of people just weren't involved in the process.

In a perverse way, one of the comforting things about corporate greed is that it is generally as apolitical as it is amoral. If we had the same degree of political activism now that we had during the war in Vietnam, you can bet that the major labels would be lined up looking for that next protest singer singing a protest song.
