NOBEL prize-winner Doris Lessing claims the 9/11 attacks on the US were not as bad as the IRA’s 30-year campaign.

9/11 was dramatic because the deaths happened in one incident. It's the same when a plane crashes. It makes headlines when 300 people get killed. Yet ten times that number get killed each year on British Roads and it hardly gets a mention.

'Worse' is very subjective.

I think 9/11 and the IRA 'troubles' are much more dissimilar than they are similar, and as such are difficult to compare. Let alone grade.
