I think this is a right step forward, i'd do the same thing in their shoes. Say sure federal law says this, however we will respect federal law, just take our sweet time to give the individuals a trail, lets say 70-80 year wait lines.

This is a good idea but more importantly juries need to start nullifying these victimless crimes.

Wasn't it pot that was being transported in the military stand off on the Tex/Mex border?

If a crime is truly victimless, then I suggest that it ought not to be a crime.

Well we can't have that can we? How would our police forces actually make money if they couldn't confiscate profits from black markets? And what would they do all day anyway? They'd have to spend all their time actually going after real criminals like rapists, murderers, and thieves.

No, we can't do that. Especially not in a "free" country like America.

So my friend who died by buying a personal amount of pot that happened to be laced with PCP is victimless?

If the government wants to regulate the sale of pot like they do with tobacco and alcohol then I'm all for that... but don't you dare call any crime a victimless crime unless no one has ever died from someone breaking it.

Re: "Missoula county is not going to charge or enforce misdemeanor marijuana possessi

We need to get rid of the billion dollar money black hole that is the ill-fated War on Drugs.... who cares what I do in the privacy of my own home?

Drug use is a victimless crime in and of itself.... PCP laced pot killing someone does not make drugs a crime with a victim, it makes the person who laced someone's pot with PCP and then sold it as pure a criminal. (If pot was legal, <TWIBAT> like that would still be illegal)

Don't you dare pretend that someone doing something wrong gives you the right to stand in your ivory tower and preach to the rest of us about something completely unrelated to the drug itself.

Re: "Missoula county is not going to charge or enforce misdemeanor marijuana possessi

Yeah, it should be pretty self evident that drug use is a victimless crime. But then the fact that the Drug War is a scam reminiscent of 20's era Prohibition should be pretty obvious to most folks as well and yet we're still wasting billions fighting it.
