Gov teacher agrued with me

Today we did voter registaration as an assigment in class. Well there was portion where it was asked which party do you belong too.

Well you had sevearl choices, reps, demos, or indp or N/A as in nothing.

Well I didn't like any of those chocies so I filled in "Parties are unamerican"

Which I admittely believe in, I do NOT CARE which party runs my country as long as they do a good job. And in fact i'd perfer they not be a part of a party.

However she said it wasn't following instructions I said in my eyes parties are unamerican and every single chance I have to tell someone that I will, I will that to an american that his belief or acceptce of any plotical party in my eyes makes him unamerican.

Either way she gave up simply because she saw I woudlr efuse to change it, but what do you have to say?

Re: Gov teacher agrued with me

Well, considering the fact that political parties have been in existence in the US from its very inception, I find it a stretch to say that they are unamerican. For example, the democratic party was established in 1792, the Federalist party in 1789. The Constitution was only established in 1787. So if you think political parties are unamerican, perhaps they were - for the two years that the US existed without them. Maybe you don't agree with them, but they are very American - whether that is a good thing or not.

I don't like partisanship either, but a political world without any parties wouldn't change much. There would still be groups of people who took one side of an issue and other groups who took another side - and there would still be larger groups of people who took similar sides on similar issues. The party system makes it more rigid, but disagreement and conflict would still exist. Conflicts would still inhibit progress.

N/A seems like an ok choice to me... Noting on the side that you disagree with political parties would have probably been acceptable as well, depending on the instructor.

Re: Gov teacher agrued with me

I don't consider myself to be a member of any one political party. My views on things are quite varied so to say I'm a staunch in any one direction would be a lie.

Reminds me of this scene of the movie Donnie Darko.

You can vote for whoever you want...as long as I get to do the nominating.

I would have given you an F on it and told you in life, you may not always agree, but you need to follow instructions.

Yep, do not pass GO, do not collect $200 and go directly the the line for those failing this test.

Re: Gov teacher agrued with me

not to get too technical, but it doesn't sound like she did much arguing. Sounded like she just shook her head and said 'not today Nik'
