Michael Moore's Sicko
Sicko, Michael Moore’s new movie about America’s health care system (the one that glorifies the socialized medicine of Cuba) hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but already it’s been leaked to the internet.

Re: Michael Moore's Sicko
There is nothing wrong with what Michael Moore does and I congratulate him on implementing his first admendment rights. I particularly do not agree with his point of view but then again, If I had his kind of money, I would express my point of view.
This is a free country and we have a choice not to watch his movies. Don't trust anyone before the revolution. |

Re: Michael Moore's Sicko
Agree with him or not he is a great film maker. After watching a few bad documentaries you realize that he does have a knack for getting his point across in a convincing manner while making you care about even the minutia of the issue.
I watched a movie called the Take a while back. Great subject matter but the little commies who made the film had scenes in the begging that should have been at the end and visa versa. The narration was horrible... it was just a mess.

Re: Michael Moore's Sicko
on the contrary, I think he uses logical fallacies and emotional appeals very well. I mean taking 9/11 rescuers to Cuba to get treatment, how does he come up with this stuff.

Re: Michael Moore's Sicko
on the subject of American health care...it really needs to be socialized for one reason in particular...as it stands, because of the supposed great amount of $ to be earned here we are pulling qualified health care professionals out of their native countries (where they are sorely needed) to here on the dreamed for promise of more monies...rather like stealing candy from babies...
you people ever notice how many advertisements there are about 'you really need health insurance"??...say what?..if we NEED it so much, the provide it for all fairly and equally!!!!! I mean really, as it stands now an illegal alien will get better care than I would if I ever had to go to a hospital... and think upon this: health insurance is the healthy taking care of the weak...you get shoved into 'pools' of people and the cost of your coverage is based upon said 'pool'.... final thought: the present 'system' has a middleman...you know, that d00d who is trying to buy his next yacht trimmed with pomelle bubinga.... |

You'll undoubtedly hear we can't have government run health care because people will have to wait to see a doctor....fact: my MIL needed to see a kidney specialist..first available appointment...3 1/2 months. Great system we have now...

And even the right wing guy is starting to turn on the current system. I can never get ahead because of all of these stupid medical bills. So, let's see something different for a change, why not?

Re: Michael Moore's Sicko
Hey I'm with the guy on this one, but if he ever did a movie on an issue I was against I doubt I would be too pleased with him using the same tricks and ploys he used to convince people in his last film.

Re: Michael Moore's Sicko
Moore handled this film a lot better than his previous ones, cutting out the confrontations and keeping the self-aggrandizement to a minimum (with one or two exceptions: the bit where he paid the health costs of the leader of one of the we-hate-moore websites was a bit crass, but it drove the point home).
According to the World Health Organization, the UK spends $2560 per capita (8.1% GDP) on healthcare. The US spends $6096 (15.4% GDP). This is in spite of around 1/6 of their entire population being without coverage. We also live slightly longer and have a lower infant mortality rate. You will find similar results comparing Canada, Japan and pretty much all of Western Europe to America. Waiting lists are the only advantage to the US system. Naturally, having to pay large sums for treatment will make you think twice about seeing your doctor, and so reduce waiting lists, but this can result in neglecting to check for things that, further down the line, will not only be far more expensive, but life threatening. Of course, if the time you wait for non-critical treatment is your main priority, we still have the option of going private in the UK. |
