Very interesting my immediate reaction was actually stated by the two posts above me. It is in this way that history repoeats itself; "Leaders" of the community refuse to take responsibility for educating the young on the world as it IS and WAS.

The 15 year old muslim whose ignorance you refuse to confront today is the same muslim that will be blowing people to pieces 5 years from now.

And another thing.

Since when does it become the rest of the world's responsibility to "educate" the "ignorant" Muslims ? For all this horse-hockey I hear about the "legitimate" "peace loving" Muslims, why (exactly) is it that they can't seem to manage to "educate" their own "ignorant" sub-population ?

Well, most likely the same reason one of the ministers at a local Baptist church was recently threatened with physical violence by a member of his study group after he suggested that a passage in the standard King James Bible contained a mis-translation that could be traced to a specific marginal notation in an earlier German translation of the Bible from a Greek copy. "Hey, the Bible ain't in error!"

When any religious group substitutes dogma for reasoned faith and debate, you are going to produce violent reactionaries of the worst stripe. The Inquisition wasn't a Moslem invention. Generally, the more threatened or powerless an individual or group feels, the more likely they are to resort to violence.

Personally I think all of this is the natural consequneces when mentally retarded (and otherwise impaired) adults find acceptance and social status in the "religious" community.

Wonder if this isn't why the jewish community haven't made a clear separation between religious leaders and "everyone else".

"Everyone else" isn't really qualified to HAVE an opinion on religious matters, much less have any authority.

I think this should be a basic tenant of any civilized society.

Well, I am just glad there are people left in this world who do not subscribe to political-correctness nazismism, but keep alive common sense. It is one thing to not try to purposely hurt people, but it is being taken way too far. It's almost like they are is a state of hystria.

Well, Kinbard, it is very hard to say anything without offending someone, and sometimes you just have to take a risk in order to communicate. But, I think the point at issue here is that this thread is based on an undocumented article that most likely doesn't even rate being called an urban legend. The original story in the Daily Mail has no information that would make verification possible. Given the paper's conservative leanings and history (at one point the Daily Mail was very pro-Hitler and pro-Fascist) I think it's all bogus.

This is very wrong, and I'm appalled. I find something wrong here, a sentimentalist FUD article? We all know how easy it is especially for most Americans to start bashing a Muslim, they're already looking for any reason to. I have studied their religion aswell as Judaism, most of it with their lead scholars. In NO place whatsoever does it say, hint, believe or allow for such reactions or opinions. Neither does Judaism allow the antagonist. If even remotely true, then this is simply ignorant people hiding behind a mask of religion to get what they want. Hence they do not represent religion but their own base selves where they make up any new law and call it their religion.

A bit like all religions and laws actually. Suit yourself.

I hope it is a lie, but look at what they have already dropped from the schools. Here in America they don't really teach, only center on passing the TAS or TAC or walla walla whatever they are calling it now-a-days. And Kalim, you are right by them hiding behind a mask of religion. Hardly anyone practices true Christianity anymore, but their interpretation according to what they want. Some Muslims are guilty of murder, but then again there were Christians who murdered as well, including their own kind. I don't believe what Muslims believe, but I won't harm one. I will discuss why I believe what I believe to them, but it is who so ever will, let him come. You can't brow beat. If I kicked my dog all the time, even for a good reason in my own mind, I seriously doubt it would trust when I say "come here, this is good for you." But, it is always those few who ruin it for everone else. People kill and bomb or just generally go around disrupting things in the name of their belief, then wonder why their government steps in to bring order.

I think this is a big fat HUGE load of crap. HUGE. Says more about anti-American bias and the much-too-common world-wide "little man complex" than anything else.

The fact is that the US (and several other allies) are on the front-line to stem the advance of Islamic Fundamentalism where other countries & cultures are unable or unwilling to do so.

And it IS Islamic Fundamentalism primarily because THEY believe it to be so, and to say otherwise denies their ability to define themselves which is (in addition to being rather dumb) supplanting academic and theoretical understanding of a situation with the grisly reality that is manifest daily.

Again I underline "moderate Islam's" (seeming) incapability at theocratic self-regulation. While "they" (and certain other shallow-thinkers) can deny the connection between themsleves and thekir murderous fundalmentist counterparts, in fact the connection IS made by following the dotted lines of the bodies of their victims.
