As long as they have a clear sign that states "No booze and no dogs" I don't think it's so bad, opens the market up for less judgmental people.

But as for denying guide dogs that's just wrong.

It's also illegal under Federal Law. As well as a violation of the terms & conditions under which the Taxi is licensed by the City, which means the Permit to Operate will be revoked and that will be the end of that.

Re: Religion : again ...and again !

I guess somethings need to be outlined when a person is employed by a company. Perhaps a large document that details what work will be involved.

Pork, morning after pills, dogs, coffee. all this seems petty. If you don't agree to your job then quit. I'm sure there are many more "undocumented workers" lined up willing to do the work.

Re: Religion : again ...and again !

I was being facetious but I guess it's a real issue.

When I interview someone for a job, I cannot ask if they're pregnant, have a mental illness, an abusive spouse or a car that breaks down all the time. But I can ask "Is there anything that will keep you from coming to work regularly?" A yes or no answer is fine but if they happen to volunteer additional information, so be it. Same principal here. "Your job will involve handling all of the products in this store. You will interact with the full rainbow of people who make up our customers. Is there anything that would keep you from performing the job?"

On the other hand, I was once asked to "police" the parking lot of the establishment where I worked because we had a high ranking visitor coming. I drew the line at picking up cigarette butts. "Fire me if you want to but I ain't doing that!"

What is great about America?

You get a choice. "Do I want to be a Cabby or not?"

This is a no brainer.

So much for the conscientious objector. I guess you can only decline to do your job if you are in the military.

Re: Religion : again ...and again !

there was a case of the judge who declined to deal with adoption cases of gay people becuase his religion(christianity!!) taught that homeosexuality was wrong. He was subsequently fired as his job description gives no leeway on who he can and can not deal with in a court situation. Its all good i say.
