Too much fuss ove Ford?

Do you think the media is making too big a deal over Ford? The man was never voted for; not even as vice president.

He was the President, he died two days ago... There is hardly any hype. A guy gets lost in Oregon and he gets way more coverage...

Ford deserves the attention he is getting, and more. 95% of the attention is based on him not supporting the war. Why is this even an issue? He was a President who deserves full respect and at least as much attention of some camper who got lost.

Ford certainly is remembered much more positively than he was thought of while President. The very definition of "lackluster". He pardoned Nixon, and he bonked his head and fell down a lot.

Where's the Legacy ?

My System

People that liked him remember his good points.
People that didn't like him remember his bad points.
This thread is just a matter of opinion.
Give him his 5 minutes and it will be over. Just like Reagan.
Next month we will probably not hear of him again.

Ford achieved nothing as President. His pardon of Nixon didn't reunite the country. Nixon's crimes were just swept under the rug and ignored just as the criminals implicated in the Iran/Contra scandal were pardoned and ignored by the first Bush presidency. A Presidential pardon for individuals who have not been indicted for a crime, let alone convicted, is beneath contempt.

Not so sure about that.

The country really was threatening armed insurrection. There was a LOT going on, and things were much less secure then than they are now.

I agree that the claim of "uniting" the country is a bit over-blown, but I think the tumult & chaos would have been much worse had Nixon been put on trial for his "crimes".
