More than 1,000 UK troops have stormed the headquarters of an Iraqi police unit to rescue 127 prisoners, dozens of whom they had feared would be killed.

I just saw this on CNN. Also the arrest by the US of 2 Iranian diplomats. The timing makes me wonder if they are not related.

If Iran were to be proven to be running insurgent operations in Iraq, what military options would the US possibly utilize?

I am constantly amazed that major insurgency activities are able to occur in "US occupied" Iraq, and I wonder why it is that the US seems to be incapable of killing off or arresting those in "command level" positions.

Is it that we "know who they are" but cannot/do not arrest them due to legal restrictions, such as what regularly occurs here in the US regarding narcotics trafficking, or is the US simply unaware of who is directly involved and how they are funded ?
