Will China overthrow North Korea's Kim ?
Friday, December 15, 2006
China has begun drawing up plans to attack North Korea, according to the Paris-based Intelligence Online newsletter. Hu Jintao, head of the Central Military Commission, has ordered the Chinese military to draw up the attack plan as a move "deliberately meant as a threat to the regime of Kim Jong-Il." The report said the plan was leaked to sources close to Western intelligence in Hong Kong. The action follows China's displeasure at the Oct. 9 nuclear test, which Hu regarded as a snub to the International Affairs Leadership Group that he has headed since 2003. http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtri...064583333.html

That's because it would be hard to take the sanctions off once in place even if Kim was overthrown.

Well the sanctions in resolutions 15** were all conditional on DPRK's nuclear program being halted and IAEA inspecters being allowed to investigate the facility. So if China overthrew Kim Jong Il in a military Blitzkrieg like coup the nuclear facilities would probably be destryed be China, and the sanctions removed. I would think that if China overthrew Korea they would actually face international punishment, especially since they have been treating Taiwn miserably and threatening to esentially abolish Taiwan if they separate. So if China overtook N Korea, which I find likely, I would that they at least go to the UN as the US did. When they find out how useless the UN actually is, they can go in and kill KJL, but shouldn't take any stake in the land. But China already claim the N Korea is rightfully theirs... they need more coastal area. You can figure this out easily.
