US Presidents

I found it quite interesting reading an article in Time magazine that Americans often refer to Mr. Bush Snr as the 41st president and Mr Bush Jnr as the 43rd. In fact, there have only been 42 US presidents because Grover Cleveland was in office from 1885-1889 and again from 1893-1897. Messrs Bush should be the 40th and 42nd presidents. Go figure

Less than two weeks ago, this came to my attention while I was helping my son with a homework problem. I did a little more checking, and found that the White House historians decided that, since Grove's terms were not contiguous, the terms should have different numbers.

Unprecedented before or since, so I bet that they tossed a coin...

Did you know that no where in our constitution does it say that the president elect must say "so help God"?

????

But it does say: "I do solemnly swear to protect and defend the Consitution of the United States" ....hummm, I wonder if he remembers saying that part?
