DETROIT - A federal judge ruled Thursday that the government's warrantless wiretapping program is unconstitutional and ordered an immediate halt to it.

ps : if a cop tells a judge , i need to wiretape a suspect house based on evidences , the judge will likely agree with the cop .

If a you start wiretaping and bypassing the judge , that is called spying on people .

A black female judge, appointed by Carter, in a highly democratic city. This is one of the most obvious cases of an extreme acitivst liberal judge legislating from the bench that one can witness. Or it is another example of the left trying to stick one to Bush.

I forgive you for your youth, but this does nothing at all. The government will get a SCOTUS justice to order an injunction and the SCOTUS will rule on it. Then and only then can we truly say anything about it. And if you don't think race has anything to do with liberalism, then you are saorely mistaken.

So if liberal black female judges can't be trusted to do their job properly, why not let the government appoint all future judges so they can get away with whatever they want without the possibility of being challenged? That seems fair.

I would think the fact that she was appointed by Carter would be proof enough of her "liberalism" even though her action have more to do with libertarianism.

Bry you're a republican and Lincoln died a long time ago; the only race card you've got left is the Hispanic one and even though most of them may be republican you can't use that card without pissing off the rest of your deck.

Let me just say that I don't think Bush is going to get what he bargined for with this court; I think they're a lot more free thinking than he thought.

time will tell I cant believe our nations would even consider the need for warrantless wiretapping >>>>> most all judges are very lenient with what you show them as evidence, especially in a situtation like this; no body wants to be caught as the sleeping baby.

He's guaranteed 3 votes: Alito - who's basically his lapdog, Thomas - who hasn't had an original thought in 25 years, and Roberts- who knows what he agreed to to get his lifetime position.

Let's hope the others are able to think beyond the times and do what's right. They were able to regarding the military tribunals. Maybe that's a sign of how they'd rule here too.

Question: If the SCOTUS does find that the taps are unconstitutional, does that mean that George violated federal law each of the 30+ times he authorized them? Sounds like high crimes and misdemeaners to me.

I thing Roberts is a swing vote. People as smart as him don't continue to kiss a** after they get tenure.

The guy is obviously open minded, his wife is Democrat.

people dont generally abandon their past; if Roberts did not have an extensive history to demonstrate his beliefs are in line with GW's team he would never have got their!

I personally dont think SCOTUS will ever make a ruling on it; just for the reason Yustr just brought up. In the event they rule the wire taps vilolated the laws, then the goof ball and his caddies would be in deep trouble. They will use a delay tactic until the current admin is gone >>>> which cant come soon enough for me.

Another four years of this and my children's children will be getting some debt load to carry !!!!!!!!!!!!! This admin has already just about guaranteed that my high shcool age children will never see the national debt brought under control.
