Michael Moore sued by Iraq war veteran

I got a special for you Republicans in the house, it's against Michael Moore but it's reported by CBS so how true could it be?

but for the non paranoid here:

"A U.S. war veteran who lost both arms in Iraq has sued Oscar-winning director Michael Moore for $85 million, saying television clips were used without his permission in the anti-war documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" and gave a false impression that he opposed the war.

Sgt. Peter Damon, 33, a supporter of President George W. Bush and the Iraq war, claims Moore misused the footage to portray him "in a false light" and as "disagreeing with the president about the war effort and as disagreeing with the war effort itself."

NBC had originally used the clip for a story about medical treatment being received by veterans.

In "Fahrenheit 9/11," the footage of Damon follows a statement by Democratic Rep. Jim McDermott of Washington, who says of the Bush administration: "You know they say they're not leaving any veterans behind, but they're leaving all kinds of veterans behind."

"The work creates a substantially fictionalized and falsified implication as a wounded serviceman who was left behind," the complaint said."

My System

I remember that scene. If I recall correctly, I felt it was meant to relay the idea that while we may not be leaving any soldiers in Iraq, we are leaving parts of soldiers there. And this guy left two arms on the desert sand.

Slight of hand editing? Yup. We were certainly left with the impression he was hurt in battle when, in fact, it was an accident while changing a tire on a helicopter.

Another case of attacking the messenger not the message.

Moore is a good film maker though, and that's why he won at caan. He's very good at getting his message across. You don't realize how good he is until see a bad ultra liberal documentary.

Watch "The Take" and then watch Fahrenheit and you'll see what I mean. The Take has great material to work with, it could have won an Oscar, but the film makers botched the story telling making is a so so film.
