DC - I'm afraid your operation will have to wait. I have an urgent appointment with a pool, the sun and some beer over the next two weeks.

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
self prescribing medication Dr Glas? sounds like a good prescription to me - keep afloat and have a good one, two or three (dozen?)

Self prescribing is not without risks - however, in this case, I think I'm safe...

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
Back in the late 70's, my father had a triple heart-valve replacement op (1 of the 1st in the UK, following Christian Barnard's pioneer transplant techniques). While he was recuperating in hospital afterwards, he was given a daily pint of Guinness, on prescription, as a 'blood tonic and iron booster' - He really enjoyed those 3 weeks

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
Thanks for the well-wishes. I got approved for the apartment I like. Move-in day is Aug 1.
DC, regarding darning socks, find a smooth, hard, rounded object that is a little larger than the hole. For darning socks, I use an egg-sized polished stone I found in a river. I've seen darning eggs for sale, but I think that might be too small for what you need. Then you stitch back and forth one way across the hole. Make sure to extend your stitches far enough past the edge that they are in strong fabric. Once the hole is covered, add stitches across them, making sure to weave in and out of the first group of stitches. You're literally weaving cloth to replace what wore out. The hard object will help hold the sock's shape and keep you from poking your fingers. It can be made of polished wood, but I find repeated needle pokes make it rough. That's why I prefer glazed ceramic or polished stone. For your stump sock, I wonder if a bowl might work.

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
Hummmm......Now that might work!! I'll try that Gistek, and thank you. Very glad to hear you got your appartment.
Hay glas Ua... make sure you leave plenty for me, I have the feeling I am going to need it. Before and after. Anyone for a Fosters? slurp slurp Slurp Slurp. You know Werebo, I had hear of that Guinness, on prescription And I honest though it was a joke, Until My doctor had prescriped me for two beers per day to help with my diabetic and nerve problems, beer has no effect on me and never has, put he has been right on the money with all my medical disorders, so what the heck. When you brought up Guinness that made me think because that was the prescriped beer! thanks for that, I stop drinking long ago until he had told me that, Now I've just received a report from the diabetic Assocation that inplyed the same thing. So drink an extraq for me Glas. Sandy do you notice anything odd about you Glas account Ua.. your account. ![]() zuluclayman, I know a few of us american that could past that test ![]() ![]()

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
WOW! I say both of you have been busy, about the same here, dealing with my dad. He has failing out on me several times here in the last week and yesterday he was waking around like a drunk man and did not know where he was half the time, and add that to some sort of bug I came down with.
>>> We finally got some rain here 6 inches. Only thing I hate about that is cutting grass and weed eating. Hay if,en you got some pic of them space ships, sent me some. When I was a teen I got into slot cars big time, then when it faded out got into rocket-tearing, built a four stage rocket similar to the Saturn 5V, had to call the fire dept. in for stand by because of the home made fuel I put in it. Put a live rat and a micro-cam in the top for a NASA scientist give me. Can't remember how high it went but but boy you should have heard the noise it made and the smoke, never did find that camera or the rat! But I was told not to build another one. RATS! Built a Starship Enterprise that was 8 ft By 3 ft. with lights lasers and several other gizmo's, gave it to a museum. Hay Sandy don't worry about you account, it is safe, I borrow a little from Jack Sparrows account, ![]() ![]() Glad to here your doing OK.>>> Hay I'am not sure about this virtual Box you where talking about, maybe, when you have time you can fill me in, in some detail and how you like win7. I might look into it after I figure out what this "Personnel Media drive is, and how to put in a second Hard drive I have a 800 Gig. >>> Hope your brother is doing find. Quick question when you have time, I take it you are going to run Win7, keeping XP or Vista as a back up. How does that work with out them bumping heads?

![]() With my set up I have wiped it and started again what I have done is I have partitioned my hard drive into two partitions for windows (one for operating systems C: drive and one for My Documents D: drive) I also have partitions on my second hard drive for backing up my Operating system (with Acronis True Image ) and also backing up My Documents ( with Sync Toy ) That's my normal set up now what I have done is I have set up Ubuntu Dual boot so when I boot up my computer I get to choose if I want to boot into WindowsXP or Ubuntu Now what I will be doing when I finish tidying up my fresh install of Ubuntu is to load a program called Virtualbox and then I will be installing my evaluation copy of Windows7 into virtualbox. I did have it running on windowsXP with virtual PC 2007 but it was too sluggish and I was told that Virtualbox made by Sun micro systems is better than Microsofts VirtualPC 2007 so I tried it on Ubuntu with an earlier version of Virtualbox and had Windows 7 working but I had trouble with sound so I tried the latest version of Virtualbox and with windows 7 it was buggy (I later found others had trouble with this version) you use the right Ctrl button to move your mouse from Windows 7 back to Ubuntu and again to get back into Windows 7 but I kept getting stuck I had windows 7 full screen but the cursor was Ubuntu and I had nothing to click on and I couldn't resize the screen with Ctrl+F and had to crash it to get out. So I decided to bight the bullet 'cos I didn't have a lot of room on the hard drive for Ubuntu on my first drive and I wiped Ubuntu and set it up on my second drive with more room and I hope by the time I install Virtualbox again it will have the bugs sorted out.

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
Hi DC
![]() Installing Windows 7 as a 2nd Operating System is easy. Ideally, you need a 2nd hard-drive, but you can partition your existing drive, then install the 2nd OS on that one. When you boot up afterwards, you get a menu appear asking which OS you want to use. Installing a 2nd hard-drive is fairly easy, but it depends on whether your drive is a SATA or PATA drive, and your motherboard. PATA drives use the wide ribbon-cable and can take 2 drives (either hard-drives or CD/DVD drives), SATA uses a narrow ribbon-cable and each device is connected directly to the motherboard individually.

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
Hey guys, sorry I haven't responded in here for such a long time. I was wondering if Dr Glas would prescribe me some laughter? I heard Bruno is right for that kind of thing?
I will be getting Windows 7 from the Microsoft employees tore (based off my MVP status) for free pretty much. They gave me $150 credit there and s far I have seen Windows Vista 64 Ultimate retail for $45. They also pay for my first two shipping costs. I can also down load the Windows 7 RTM version off of MSDN on August 6th. The RTM version is the full retail version buts its free for me when it comes out. |

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
Believe me DC, it reads a lot harder than it is to do it
![]() It's good to see you managed to relax enough for a real good laugh - It's a lot less embarrassing than crying, when things are at their worst, and you feel a whole lot better for it afterwards

Re: The New TSF Surgery - Home of Dr. Glas.
DC if you want to try Win7 RC for free down load it before August 20 that is the final date then you can install it later but don't wait till the last or the servers will be very busy.
