Say WHAT. I think I must have misunderstood, or you got bonked on the head by a window screen and .....your house has landed on the Mustang Ranch in Nevada...

That would be the absolute LAST thing on my mind if I was about to meet a tornado. I will take an earthquake any day, thank you very much.

@ Sandy re: losing edited long winded posts

excellent and good thinking. Thank you . I am sure there are a lot of tricks/tips/shortcuts I am unaware of. I'm sure I complicate quite a few things. Actually, I have made a real mess of a few files. I somehow have a couple photo albums where there were up to like 26 copies of all the photos. I wasn't able to figure out how to highlight and delete big groups at a time and I was getting no where fast deleting them one at a time. I just kinda put it out of my mind.

Also was wondering ...have a question ... I don't do this anymore but when I first learned about limewire/frostwire I went a little crazy havin fun and fetching old favorite music. Daughter Amy (to my surprise) took a free trial of bearshare and she went crazy getting music. so we have playlists on realplayer, windows media, and who knows where else . Does this music stay in one place and is called up by these players or are all these files duplicated for each one? Just wondering if there isn't a way to tell the computer to check itself and throw away all doubles LOL no serious though

ok thanks again. I value your "lessons" ........

And you DC, you are tooooo funny ......yee haw he's off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of ozzzzz

Re: The New TSF Surgery - All Welcome! v. Even more Flesh

B]Which ever one it is, I don't care to much of either one!! well except one
One upon a time, in big city, nested with big city lights, tall apartments with dark allies, narrow St. and businesses of every type, everywhere.
There was a man walking down the St., looking, searching and asking everyone he meet “have you seen Sex!!!”, needless to say the people thought he was some sort of
Wrack-O, they ran away from him. As days went by, people became anode at him, “Please Sir/Ms have you seen Sex”. They began to complain to the police.
The next day the police started looking for a man looking down asking about Sex. One of the police officers saw him in a dark alley looking under track, in doomsters, calling “Sex where are you? The officer stop him and ask him “What are you doing?”, he replay “I am looking for Sex”!
Two days later, he was brought before the city Judge. Judge asked why where you in the alley? He answered “I was looking for Sex”! Three day went by and the man behind bars was reading a paper.
The headline read! Dog found at twenty three and third –the Tag on the collar read- My name is SEX please return me to my owner, I am lost!!!

Well shoot! I am embarrassed now for sure, guess I am the one that got bonked on the head! But...how was I to know it was a line from a joke..See in real life I find that answers for inquiring minds will generally be revealed if I just sit and listen quietly. When I am communicating via keyboard, my fingers seem to put my foot in my mouth on a way to frequent basis..........

Counting my pennies for finger transplants and foot removal...surgery

When you create 'Playlists', it just creates a list of the file locations, it doesn't duplicate the music files themselves

It's worth taking the time to get your music files organised though - The way I have mine is a 'Master' folder on my D: drive called 'MP3', then 26 folders inside that named A-Z. Inside each of those is the artist/band filed alphabetically:-

The basic structure is easy to set up, then just move your MP3's at leisure.

I have over 7,000 MP3 files (complete albums and individual tracks), so it's essential to keep it all organised

Hi Cathy WereBo has answered you music question and if your looking for where they are saved they are probably saved in your "My Documents" in a file called "My Music"
I would be careful when you download music from other peoples computers because from time to time a file is not what it says it is and is a virus set as a trap.

When you want to select many files/Photos for deleting the easiest way is to keep the Ctrl key held down while you click on the files/Photos and you will see you will have many highlighted for deleting or copying Ctrl + C or if you want to remove them to paste them some where else this is called "Cut" Ctrl + X and when you want to paste them somewhere click in the folder where you want it to go then Ctrl + V

If you search on google for "keyboard shortcuts" you will find lots more.

Re: The New TSF Surgery - All Welcome! v. Even more Flesh

You guys are all sooo smart. That will be a fun project for me. Now with Elizabeth being the only grandkid not in school I am finding myself with nothing but time on my hands (well it will be when school resumes). I find that if the kids are here I have to defend my desk chair. The second I stand up, one of those little critters hops in my place lol. And trickin em into getting up has become increasingly difficult!

My first few home computers were hand me downs. And my first experience with internet was on an old mac. Just as I was getting the hang of surfing the web (which I kid you not) was not that great. The pages literally took minutes to load and I would have dreams at night of flipping page after page after page and never getting there. I would wake up feeling kinda lost. Then one day I get a message ...not enough memory to open application or something like that....AOL had upgraded me right out of the ballpark.

Then I "bought" several after that from my friends (dumpster divers). I never spent more than like $20-$30. My last problem computer led me to order system restore disc from HP. They tried to sell me telephone tech support for like $67 for like 1/2 hour I believe, and since that was double what I paid for computer and I was not guaranteed the unit would work with a few keystrokes I said no thankis.

I "inherited" my grandsons old IBM after that, By this time I was a very active Club Pogo addict, joined a league, played tournaments and had a neat circle of friends over there. It was my evening entertainment after babysitting all day. I would stay up almost all night. Go to bed around 4:30 in the morning, get up at 7. Elizabeth was a newborn so we would then have morning nap at 9am -11:30 and afternoon nap from about 1-3. It was COOL........oh back to computer. My computer was still a dinosaur and slow to load games, I would also find myself doing what we called "poofing" and get tossed out into limbo sometimes off the net altogether requiring a reboot and reload and back to the tournament. I was usually the main delay in most of our tournaments.
One day my friend Jane asked me if I wouldn't mind giving her my physical address because she heard Santa had something for my stocking. Hey I said sure, I didn't have a problem with that. If someone wants to steal my identity, they can have it. If a psycho axe murderer wants to come get me, he will have to get in line with all the other crazy druggies psycho's around our neighborhood. Well about 6 days later OMG here comes a brand new (well reconditioned) eMachine. I cried and cried and could not believe someone would do something like that for me! So this is my treasured pride and joy!

Ok so you guys are all probably laughing. Thats ok but what brought me to TSF was a "disease" that took control of my browser, Bruce guided me through the repair and said I see you have lime/frostwire and suggested I stay away from using these sites for downloading. I assured him my computer was was more valuable to me than a couple free old tunes

I don't know if a music download or earn money visiting web sites was how I hurt the computer but I don't do either of these activities anymore AND do you know how many web pages you have to visit to make money? If memory serves me it was like 40 to earn a dollar, you have to recruit underlings if you want to double that and NO ONE ever responded to the 15 or so ads I placed on craigslist. I was the only dummy to take that bait........neveragain I will go hunting for soda/beer cans, it is a much faster and more lucrative way to earn money.

Hay Dr. Glas....I just need a few more days to scrape together the funds for new fingers. do you have any magazines I can browse thru so I can find which style I like the best or am I gunna get the ones you have lying around in those jars?

I had to Google that to see it was a games-site - I had this vision of you and your friends bouncing around town on pogo sticks!

We don't have brochures I'm afraid - you'll just have to rely on what we tell you.

We can wait a few days more - can you?

Well, if the ultimate goal is to keep my keyboard fingers from putting my foot in my mouth maybe just hack off the feet? Should be cheaper and DC probably knows how to do it?

or better yet, just cut the cord on my keyboard

Re: The New TSF Surgery - All Welcome! v. Even more Flesh

JTP, it was and still is to some extent. Some of them nerves are very active in that one spot, and boy talking about pain. Make you cry at times. I thought about searching out this doctor that has a new technic in deading the nerves for prosthetic patients, but its expensive. I now have a unusal caless there in that wound area that just keep building up. I have to use a finger nail file and some special balsm to keep it down.

Hay I know you all are not in Electronics, put I am needing a really small leassoning device that needs to be wireless transmit to a receiver in my room. Something I can install in all the rooms in the house. That way I can leasson out for the folks while I do my work around the house and protect myself.

Hay JTP, can't you convert a word 2007 document file in to a picture file like JPeg or a file that can be used like a photo file?

In a few days "Engage the DSL internet".

How about a baby monitor, DC?

Or check with Radio Shack for a multi-room intercom. Most will let you put the slave units on "Room Monitor" while the master just listens.

2 problems there Cathy:

1} Hacking your feet off might well cause your ankles to fray.
2} Cutting the keyboard lead might well make your PC go BANG!

I don't know of a way to convert a Word doc to JPEG, but you can do it by copying to the clipboard then pasting it into a graphics program.
