Creators of south park are censored yet again

As is often the case with Parker and Stone, they built "South Park" around the incident. In Wednesday's episode, the character Kyle is shown trying to persuade a Fox network executive to air an uncensored "Family Guy" even though it had an image of Muhammad.

"Either it's all OK, or none of it is," Kyle said. "Do the right thing."

The executive decides to strike a blow for free speech and agrees to show it. But at the point where Muhammad is to be seen, the screen is filled with the message: "Comedy Central has refused to broadcast an image of Muhammad on their network."

It is followed shortly by an image of Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag..

A frequent "South Park" critic, William Donohue of the anti-defamation group Catholic League, called on Parker and Stone to resign out of principle for being censored.

"The ultimate hypocrite is not Comedy Central _ that's their decision not to show the image of Muhammad or not _ it's Parker and Stone," he said. "Like little whores, they'll sit there and grab the bucks. They'll sit there and they'll whine and they'll take their shot at Jesus. That's their stock in trade."

There is hypocrisy... why is it okay to show jesus defecating on an american flag, but not to even show muhammad loaning someone a loaf of bread?

Did their message not seem a little valid? If you censor the image of muhammad you have made a distinction about what is alright to make fun of and what is not.

Yea some people might get hurt, that's how terrorism works, but by censoring muhammad out, you are allowing it work. War sucks, but we can't let other religions tell us what to do because it intereferes with their beliefs...

It would obviously have been best to avoid the whole "picture of muhammad" thing...but that pandora's box was opened by Denmark. But as leaders of the free world, it is our duty, neigh our right to defend free speech; totally free speech, not just semi-free.

edit: Also, I heard they never planned to show the picture, they just thought that would be even more funny. But, until we get to hear/see an interview with the writers we'll never really know.

Everyone has said that by now though, this episode is a little late. Everyone know that the hissy fit Muslims had over that cartoon was retarded, they didn't need SP to sell them that. They can stone women for being raped, beat them for learning to read, and break children's arms for stealing fruit in their countries and tell us to go to hell when we tell them it isn't right, but when a Dutch man prints a cartoon in the Netherlands half way across the globe which is only meant for his countrymen, they get upset. It's not like he was emailing it to the Iotolah.

It's basically just their way of complaining about censorship. They're funny sometimes but then other times you get tired of their cocky attitude. They talk crap about Jews, paraplegics, and religions and their only excuse is that they do it to everyone. Well that's a pretty lame excuse. I'm sick and tired of those two people's opinions on things they don't know about.

Or I could just not watch the very end of the show when they give you their little shpeil and try to act as if that half hour of mindless stupidity had some higher meaning. I like fun, but i hate fake.

i think it's a little harsh the way they talk about people, but i myself enjoy the show most of the time.

most of the time, i watch the show in absolute disbelief of how far they went, but the channel is easy to change, and noone forces me to watch it.

there is alot of other shows that suprise me too, not just south park, and i watch those shows too.

beavis and butthead was also a show meant to be pointlessly shocking, the only real difference, was that mtv wasn't half as tolerant as comedy central.

watching southpark, i watch them make fun of everyone, even people i like, and i don't mind. not even when they make fun of poor people, or computer nerds, star trek fans, redheads, or people who have to be on free lunch. (i am/was all of those things)

like, they can show saddam in bed with satan, and they can show every priest in the vatican thinking it's normal to have sex with boys, but they try to show a picture of muhammed, and comedy central freaks out?

i think that it's all offensive, and that it's a matter of WHO you irritate, as if some people matter more than others.

just like in school, people get away with making fun of nerds, but you tell a fat person they are fat, and you are suspended for two weeks. it still hurts, it doesn't matter if you are fat, or a computer nerd, or a fat computer nerd, it still hurts.

where the hell have our priorities gone?

If they REALLY wanted to offend, they would have Jesus take a Dump ON Muhammed. Then You'd get some reactions, like riots, Christians in far away lands being dragged though the streets, and so on.

My point, it's just a frickin' cartoon! Not a serious statement, nothing to get your hackles up for. It's just two jackasses trying to enterain other jackasses. I for one love the show for their willingness to offend, if you get sooo pissed over a cartoon, you should take a long look at your sensibilities.

I rarely watch the show, but I have been particularly incensed at the ease with which they take shots at Christian beliefs while they are terrified to insult Islamics. Just goes to show you what kind of religion that is if it can harbor such fear among non-believers as well as their own.
