Airsoft gun

Two boys are in trouble with the law in Campbell County for shooting a gun that uses a spring to launch a plastic pellet.

http://www.wate.com/Global/story.asp?S=4190405

ps : airsoft guns are sold in the US to people 18 years old or older, these guns can barely shoot at 100fps(feet per second) depending on the quality of it and were invented for gaming. altought the children admit they were playing with it (shooting each other) but the problem is that most of these airsoft pellet guns can be mistaken by real guns.

I guess my thoughts are that the toy isn't even a BB gun, and it hs it's nationally-mandated orange barrel to differentiate it from a real firearm.

I sure hope that the NRA, et al, hop in this one, as we cannot affort to have that case law on the books. One of thekids was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon? Unless he is inbound to a total Kangaroo Court, therewhould be a dismissal of that charge, quickly.

Airsoft does manufator BB guns, pellet buns and painball guns, and the pellet gun could do some damage to a human, for sure. These kids were playing with a childs' toy. and it doesn't have the power fo injure an eye, even at point blank range.

We reaslly need to increase the education requirements of law officers everywhere. Over time, an applicant should have a bachelors' degree in a related subject to apply. We do seem tobe having a lot of difficulty with the competency of officers, from OJ to MJ to N.O, where they apparently went home.

The story above is just one more black eye against officers, prosecuters, et al.

There was a similiar incident like this in Australia only a week ago. Two boys were "snipering" motorists as they drived by.

One motorist got hit in the eye and now may have permanent eye injuries. Both boys have been caught.

After I got married, someone paint pelted my car while my wife had it. I talked to the sherriff and told him to get them before I did.

Humphrey was charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon,
I think the only thing an airsoft gun could kill would maybe be a small rodent, maybe.
They were using the gun for its intent, to shoot eachother. Airsoft guns were developed along the same lines as paintball guns. A combat sport to develop tactics and strategy in a competetive environment. the only difference is that a paintball gun is large and bulky and airsoft guns are designed to be close replicas of real weapons. as long as they were shooting at eachother and both were either armed, or knew that the little plastic bb's sting and were willing to be shot, the charges are rediculous.
