Racism in Australia

Australia is a country where Racism is very minimal or at least is hidden under a big blanket, waiting to come out. Yesterday and Today that blanket was uncovered. I am outraged as an Austrlian in the event that have been occuring in Sydney overnight.

This racism 'war' in Sydney has been surging up to this climax finish. There have been over the past 10 years small account here and there of racial disturbance but none at this level as seen today.

I believe both groups are at the wrong. You cannot solve violence with more violence. But what sparks me most is that the offending "ethnic" groups were no where in site during the big Riots. Instead they were laughing it up, watching on the news. The rioting "non-ethnic" Aussies went about smashing anyone of middle eastern appearance.

Too True ... but the odd thing is people complain the Anti Terrorism laws are too harsh and now they want more police in force. (I'm not talking about you dai

)

I was all for the laws when they came out so they could be put in place when incidents like this happens. I shall keep our small aussie audience updated on this. Civil unrest will probably happen again over the next week.

so how bad is it? is it confined to only few cities with heavy middle-eastern populations, or is visible in all the provinces?

It is confide to only one city mostly, Sydney. That city has a huge middle - eastern population. I know this has been stirring for some time and other cities will start to feel the pressure now.

Something that caught my attention .... on a wall in Sydney a message was graffitied there, it said "The War has Just Begun".

UPDATE: Another night of civil unrest to a smaller scale. There were approx. 450 police in Cronulla (main suburb where it started) in force. There were only a few arrests.

What's worrying police is the 1000's of people gathering outside the mosk.

Saw an interesting Article in the GOld Coast paper today.
Don't know how much to beleive of it as it is coming from Chapelle Corbys mother. (Nothing against her but it's ahrd to know whether their just looking to fire up the media support again).
It appears a couple of teenage girls were approached by two men of mid eastern appearance and told that they needed to put clothes on and were not wearing enough.

Quite disturbing when you consider the Gold Coast at ceartain times of year has a large arabic tourist population. Scenes like Sydney are going to go down very well indeed.

I live at the Gold Coast. Our 'middle eastern' population is steady. Not too big but if there was a outbreak we could see events and riots in my city

UPDATE: A Christian Chruch has been torched and another has been vandalised. The works of a middle eastern group in Sydney. Text Message have been passed around the Gold Coast urging the middle eastern people to fight.

Laws are being strengthed to give the police more power. Final report on new laws will be released soon.

I love Australia, they're like the US but with kangaroos.

They have a ruling conservative party, they don't give a sh*t that they're not speaking "proper" English, they got beef with Arabs...

now if only they could get rid of Parliament and the Queen they'd be set.

what amused me was on the news they said they cannot stop the text messages or do anything about who was sending it because they are private
i wonder how private they would be if it was invite to wreck howard's
residence and property next

I believe the police are discussing about having the rights to take phones away from middle eastern people. Will this start something else?

State Parliament has been recalled for a special sitting today to approve laws that give the Police the power to Confiscate the cars and phones of troublemakers ,stop and search vehicles, declare certain areas as no go areas and prohibit the sale of alcohol in the trouble spots. The opposition political party agrees with these steps and the Governer is waiting to sign them so they will be law by this afternoon

I feel bad for anyone of the middle east who does not have the "Islamic" (superiority complex over non muslims) mentality. Racism is stupid and wrong just because of a persons appearance does not make them bad.

UPDATE: On the Gold Coast a small amount of violence occured over night. A few group arrests but nothing too major. The law in Sydney seems to be enforced with over 2000 police missing out their Christmas leave and on duty.

The problem is really in that religion. It is extremist in it's view it has no balance and it has a faceless God who does not promote peace. As long as such exists man's plight will get worse. As Autrailia is experiencing and France, and countless other countries I think what we are seeing is the beginning of something which is going to get much greater than it is now it will cause a war of massive proportions... WWars have started from much less.. You marks my words religion will be attacked and it will become illegal worldwide because of this extremist religion it's just a matter of time. When it all comes to a head.
