I hate Seagate

Seagate SUCKS. Period. They fail at life and at making hardware. I have never had a Seagate work for me and the one that was in my server died after only 2 months of light use. That's pathetic.

Fortunately they still have the best warranty. I have 4 Seagate's running at the moment One is 3 years old and runs 24/7. One of the 80's I have did give me some problems, sent it back and they sent me a drive that refused to format, Called them up and had a replacement at no cost 3 days later.

Normally I buy WD but I needed a small drive cheap and as fast as possible so I grabbed one from TigerDirect. Won't do that again. Maxtor is also on my crap list as every Maxtor I've ever dealt with in any way was horrible.

I LOVE Seagate. Can't get enough of them.

I know I use WD in my personal machine but their reliability is to question. I my case performance rules out reliability.

I absolutley detess Maxtor.
Our new Dell Powervault is loaded with 8 146GB Maxtor drives. I cringe at the thought of it and wait ever-so-pateintly for one of the drives to fail and the RAID 5 to start rebuilding with the hot spare.

i've used all those, and ibm, and never had a problem. my mac has 3 maxtors with not prob. my win tower has 2 wd, all good. i have some old, old scsi seagates (like 500mb or less) in so old macs that have never ever had a problem. bought a 2gig scsi ibm for one of my macs, and it was fast and quite, loved it. put a hit is a build, and its still going. in fact i've only ever had one drive fail on me. it was a 4gig scsi seagate, but i got it used for cheap, and it lasted for about 6 months. when it did dies, i pulled it out and found that one of those little holes the hd manifactures cover with tape (that say warranty void if removed) was missing the tape. i ran the thing for 6 months open air! now thats what i call a good hd.
